98 Sundancer Twin 7.4's. Going into heated storage. First time with this vessel. I have a few questions.
1. How do I drain the AC and when? After Haul Out or Before?
2. Same with the fresh water. Where do I drain from?
3. Ice Maker? How to empty the water supply line?

I expect draining the cooling to be a after haul out as it is a sea water cooled system.
Appreciate any tips, pix, and experience that can be shared. Had enough goof ups this year trying to avoid more.

This will be my first year winterizing my boat... so take my advice w/ a grain of salt. Here is what i plan to do...

AC:
I plan on using a shop vac hooked up to the outside of the boat where the AC discharges the water while pouring pink into the AC strainer. Also, don't forget to clean the strainer at this point. Then i plan on pouring some pink down the condensate line into the sump pump box. This method eliminates the hassle when the AC pump will not prime etc.

Fresh Water System:
1. Open a few faucets and drain as much water out as possible.
2. I will take the cold and hot water connections off the hot water tank and connect them (bypass HW tank).
3. Drain HW tank
4. Put the 'tank' side of the water pump into a gallon of pink stuff. Turn on all faucets starting from the furthest point (bow) and working back until pure pink starts flowing.
5. My boat will have Cabin sink... head shower... head toilet...cockpit sink and transom shower
6. This method will of pumping pink stuff will eliminate the pink taste in the FW tank (so i heard)
7. You know those garden sprayers you can get at Home Depot? The ones you pump by hand? Get one... connect a small garden hose w/ clamp to the sprayer. The other end goes into your city water hookup. Pump it up... turn on a faucet... turn sprayer upside down... and let the pressure push pink to the open faucet. This will winterize the small section of water hose for city water

I don't have a ICE maker on my boat so can't really help you there. I have read a bunch of threads stating you can just make pink slushie cubes and you would be good to go. But i recommend doing a little more research on this.

Also... to answer your question... i would do this where you plan on storing the boat for the winter.

Good Luck. All this info i learned right here on CSR!!!!!!
