We have to get a small accident that needs to be repaired on our 2010 185 sport. Daughter was practicing docking, and a wind gust and large wake caused the very edge of the swim platform to get chipped on the dock. The chip is about 2" long and 1/4" wide in the middle. I'm sure I can find a good fiberglass shop in Phoenix but I would like to know the gelcoat color so they can get a good match if anyone can help. Thanks.

Never mind found a brochure online and it lists the gelcoat color as pearl.

Call Sea Ray support with your hull ID number. They will give you the paint codes. Then call spectrum gel coat and tell them you need gelcoat matched for that color. They will match it to factory specs.

This works great for white boats but colors can be tricky. All gelcoat ages and changes color over time in the sun. Colors more than white. So, while the color should match the factory color your boat may no longer match it.

Thanks, I'm going to have a professional repair it but Ill call and get the info anyway so I can give it to the repair shop.

Nothing wrong with having it done professionally, but the Spectrum kits are very easy to use, you could do this repair and it would look just as good as a professional, for about a 10th of the cost.

Hope your daughter is not upset - stuff happens.

I know she feels bad about it, because even though the boat is a 2010 it looked brand new when we bought it. I told her we could leave it on the trailer in the garage and sit and look at it and that if we are going to use the boat things are going to happen to it and not to worry about it, its repairable. She'll be fine once its repaired and you can't see it.

If the repair was on a flat area I would try it, but its right on the very edge , so theres a very defined corner and it has a slight concave curve on the side facing you, and a rounded edge under neath. Matching the curves and sharp edge is going to be tough. I'm pretty handy but body work is something I'm not good at.

I hear you, it can definitely be fixed without much trouble - tell your daughter I've been running boats for a long long time and I still manage to do something to my boat occasionally.
