How big is too big for pulling a skier?

I don't know about bigger, but I know about faster. A friend skied behind a 34' Wellcraft Scarab Panther. He has offered to tow any takers behind his 38' Sonic, but that thing is doing 45 or so once the props bite and she comes out of the hole.

Reminds me of a race we have out here on the West Coast- The Catalina Ski Race. Skiers/Racers take off from Long Beach, Ca headed to Catalina Island 31 miles away towed behind Off Shore boats They circle the island and finish back in Long Beach. The winners average speed is around 74 mph, crazy! Not to mention you're trying to ski across choppy ocean waters with with boats to your left, right and behind you.

62 miles! We use to ski on the Atlantic off the coast of Ocean City, MD. 6 or 7 miles was about my limit. Can't conceive of doing it for 62 miles at 75 mph.

I saw the Mythbusters episode when they skied behind the cruise ship... they didn't get up behind the cruise ship... the dude got up behind a whaler-type boat and then he grabbed a line that was dragging in the water behind the ship. So although quite cool, I'm going to say that doesn't count! Surely someone here has skied or 'boarded behind a boat bigger than 44'.

And MMcCawley, my MasterCraft is a 1990. It's in really nice shape for a 20 year old boat.

I must concede to your point. The question was how big can you ski behind not can you stand getting drug for 5 miles before you could get up on the skis.:smt043:smt043:smt043
