Good day, new owner from last fall , 2007 340 DA, we just put her in the water, when started to run water , it took a while to get it going through faucets, but we eventually got it going. However the hot water in the head only barely flows, cold water is fine, so i suspect i have some blockage on hot water side. Does anybody have a suggestion as to what i should try next ?

Thanks in advance

Pierre

Isolation valves for hot water heater open all the way?

I have seen some with and some without isolation (shut off) valves. They can be either at the heater or at the manifold (I have only seen at the manifold).

That way if you have a water heater leak, you can isolate the heater at the water in and out, without shutting everything down. Kinda like the heater in your house.

While doing some work in the ER on our 280, I pulled the water heater out. Only 2 years old. Figured since it was out I would flush it. When I went to flush it I was surprised how slow the water was going through it. As I continued to flush it, I couldn’t believe how much crap started coming out of it. Lots of sediment and small chunks like little gray rocks. The marina I use has well water and a very high dissolved mineral content. We use an inline filter when filling up, but apparently it doesn’t do anything for dissolved minerals. Poured a few gallons of vinegar in the tank overnight. Came out almost black. Water flow through it is normal now. So my suggestion is if you use well water to fill your tank, you may want to try some vinegar. Good luck.
