Any one had experience with this, I went to the boat and noticed I didn't have a working horn. What's the board's experience with this-Mine is a dual horn with small air compressor located in the bow anchor locker. I guess I need to get out my electrical meter and start from there-any tips?

With or without engines running....?

The only reason I ask is mine would work sometimes with engines off, but would work all the time with engines running....

Pete:

I believe I have the same basic setup as you.

When you hit the horn button, do you here the small compressor make any noise? If not, then you have to start by trouble shooting the switch/electric/fuse issues .

I was lucky in that my horn got wet from dipping the bow while at anchor 1 too many times. I was able to simply remove the horns and unscrew the 'bell' end and remove and dry out the small plastic diaphram.

Chad helped me when mine went bad...hopefully he'll see this post and chime in...

Or....you could convince your wife that you need a bigger boat.....

Pete, mine is like yours so here is a sure bet fix.

Ho see this past thread as well: http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1679&highlight=horn&page=1

Hidden up in the anchor well the horns issue their noise through a sound box vented to the air via a plastic grill. The compressor is hidden someplace, but the freaking clear plastic air line is always being pulled off by chain, crew moving chain or bucking seas. Put the hose back on the horn nipples and place a 1/4 stainless hose clamp on the line. SR could have done that but Noooooo!

Thank guys - I will give these a try. I launch today! As we say around here in Detroit -
"the good news is fuel is cheap - the bad news is no one has any money for fuel"
Oh well, think of the fuel I can save when I drive around in a new little FIAT (we use to call them- Fix It Again Tony).
No Dom - No new boat this year!

Horns working just fine, Did not work last fall, works just fine this Spring, maybe it just dried out -I did get a chance to clean out my bow locker and check all fittings/air hoses and clean up some spider mess etc. Thanks for the help you guys -This was easy! I'm Floating, Let boating Season '09 Begin!
