This weekend I took the stock radio out and looked at the back of it. There are 4 RCA cables coming off the back. 2 of them are for the amp and the other two are not hooked to anything and capped. I unplugged the connected ones and only one of the two killed the sound, therefore my assumption it is hooked to the amp. I don't have any instructions in the owners pack to tell me what the extra RCA's are for. Does anyone know what the extra capped RCA's are for? I was hoping to connect to them and the directly to my ipod but I'm not sure if the radio will pick it up as an additional source. I have not yet had a chance to try hooking up the these extra cables to see what they do yet so can anyone tell me what I might be in for? :smt017

I have that same unit and went thru the same thing as you when I was hooking up my XM receiver. I believe that is a Clarion M5170 (or something real close). Anyway, the 2 extra RCA jacks are not gonna do what you want - there is no AUX function on that radio. I THINK that they are an additional output for an amplifier so that you can use the fader (front/rear) to control 2 sets of amp/speakers. I'll see if I can dig out a manual and verify that, but I am quite sure that it is not an AUX input.

I hooked it up the "Saab way" and it worked and the sound is WAY better as in loudness. Thanks for the help!
