Honda Generator Group Buy - Questions

Re: Honda Generator Group Buy

What model is the EI? What does the "I" mean?

I found this online but no "I" model.
What do the Honda generator numbers mean?

<snip>

The popular models most are talking about is EU1000i, EU2000i, or EU3000i.

Re: Honda Generator Group Buy - Head Count

Jim I know there is a Honda model "companion" 2000 I believe it's called that has a built in 30A receptacle. I know it's only yielding 15A but the plug is there for when the genni is paired with another Honda genni with their parallel feature.
Is this an option in your order or is it complicating things?

$955 plus shipping. I added it to the list.

Wow, interest sure did taper off. I thought the price was pretty good. Obviously a lot if difference in the interest shown on this thread vs the other one where you can say you want one. Why? Is the price too much, not interested anymore? Just wondering.

put your money where your mouth is?

Speaking for myself, my significant other veto'd the idea. Apparently she doesn't see the benefit around the house. But, this is not over yet......
You're not supposed to tell her before you get it:smt021 and when she finally spots it in the garage you just say, oh that thing, I've had that for along time.

You and I have the same way of operating when it comes to this kind of stuff Woody!!

I am on the fence now. I was thinking it might come in at $700 or so for the 2K. Still thinking about it.:smt115

Honda is nice but seems expensive for just 2000 watts. I bought a 8600 watt continuous (12000 peak) gen. for $1000

I dont think your paying for the wattage as much as the technology. This gen is awesome to toss in the tool box in the truck and then when you need it, it will run 15 hrs on a tank and do it quietly. I also have 3 larger gensets, but they are not nearly as portable. I have tried the 400-600 dollar el cheapo's and they suck.

Re: Honda Generator Group Buy - Head Count

The Honda EU2000 value is in its reliability and, most significantly, the lack of noise. We use generators for the hurricanes, as well as the boat, and I have yet to find a $1000, 8KW generator you would put on a boat. Mine will run a 9000 btu unit on the boat. I have had mine since 2003 and it starts on the 1st or 2nd pull everytime. Finally had to change the air filter. If you don't need a small, quiet one for the neighbors sake or yours, don't buy it, put your money in a larger one.

I'm still interested, Jim. But its all in the timing.

The admiral has been sick for the past 2 years and I'm getting hit with some more medical bills. I've gotta cover them first before buying any more toys. Won't take too long to cover them. When are you ordering?

From the wiring diagram in the user manual it appears the 15A is always available to the 30A receptable, even though a full 30A can not be delivered. Can anyone confirm this? It would make plugging it in very simple.

My plan is to run it on-shore when docked at friends' cottages to charge the house batteries and possibly cool down the cabin with the A/C for 30-60 minutes before bed (it looks like it has the juice to do it). Ideally I could simply plug-in with my existing shore-power cable.

Jim, I may still be in, likely for the 2000 companion, but I am not sure about getting it to Canada. There are some options I use typically to ship from the US. If you can ship it to Ogdensburg, NY, I may be able to get a freight forwarder to take it from there.

Hi,
I signed up for a 2000i on the other thread. I was hesitating because I don't know when you will decide wether there is enough interest. Maybe if you set an end date more will commit.
If it takes more than a few weeks more I will probably back out.
Thanks,
Greg

Ship to Corporate Center. Pick up yourself from there. 40 mins from Ottawa. Just pay HST coming back.
