Home made balloon, 6 year old missing???

Crazy. They still haven't found him. They are saying a basket or box fell off at some point, probably containing the little boy! :huh:

Family was said to have been on ABC's WifeSwap in March.
 
Found in attic at home. Well, he was kind of in the air. We tracked this for a couple of hours, launched helicopters, were delveloping game plans when it came down. Freezing level was 10,000' (ground around 5,000'). Should we risk his life and bring it down before he freezes? Should we let him freeze? He's safe at home.
 
I have twin 7 year olds. This is why I don't have air ballons at home.

I saw the show on Wife Swap. The Dad's a nut job.

Geez you should send him the bill.... Who keeps an inflated balloon in their back yard ready to go at a moments notice??? Yes the nut job assumption about the father was pretty much confirmed from an article where his partners that have since parted ways with him stated that one reason was that he was always bringing his kids along... Well glad the boy is safe and at home and someone should have slapped the father and boy on CNN when they were on!!!
 
Sounds like the family is rather unique. They have been on WifeSwap, twice! I believe they generally bring someone back if they are truly whacky, ratings and all…anyone have a link?
 
Even if he'd been in the ballon, wouldn't the helium have taken him out after that long of a flight?
 
I was also glued to the tube yesterday watching with horror/anticipation that SOMETHING bad was going to be happening to the little boy in the balloon. Then as the balloon descended towards the earth, toward those high voltage transmission lines, I was thinking I cant believe that how anyone could survive this. But as the guy grabbed a hold of the balloon’s dangling lines, my skepticism began. This guy basically grabbed the line, pulled it to the ground, and there wasn’t much indication that “Hey… Get the kid out!”. But as they were “securing” the thing to the ground, I was thinking, the way he tugged and the way it moved, that there wasn’t any mass to the thing. No kid…. I was sure. This was getting weirder by the moment. They kept saying that the kid must of “fell out”. They played back over and over the tape of the balloon in the air. I didn’t see any door, torn flap no indication of a way that he would “slip” out. This when I was thinking something is really fishy. Then the boy was “found”… Imagine that??? I was thinking that it was a big brother prank with the big kid setting up the “hey… wouldn’t this be cool if this happened?” scenario. Then this morning I see the video of the balloon getting away, the dad flaying his arms and kicking in a tantrum while this thing “lifted” off. The mom was standing with a half hearted “stunned” look. Looking twice at the balloon, there must have been six tether lines. ALL of them loosened by themselves?? The dad didn’t even move to chase the lines to grab the thing. Even if it would have been futile, I would think a first reaction of a sincere person would be to chase it. Weird, weird, weird. The interview this morning had the entire family with the dad trying to explain the “it was a show” comment by the little one. Now… to me, as a father of two kids, listening to an explanation, IF the story is concocted, it would be a long overly described explanation. And this is exactly what the dad did! Explaining that he told the kid to “show” the reporters how he got in the attic. And he was like really nervous in front of the cameras. Not someone that I would of thought was on a reality show and taped him self quite a bit and his kids doing the same. He was pooping his pants… thinking “How am I gonna get out of this one??”. I say, charge this guy for about a billion dollars for the “rescue” of his kid. I think it was all a setup that went WAY too far…
 
F.N.A. The Dad came out with a box and said "Put your questions in this box. I'll look them over and come back at 7:30PM."

In the background someone said "That was it? Come on!" Aaaaahhh $hit!"
 
He's a media whore. This whole this is a hoax. I heard on the news this morning that they called the media before the police.

Ya, he said because they have helicopters.
