I cannot believe how close you can zoom in on stuff...I thought google maps was good, but man this is ridiculous! If you and I can get in this close on line, how close in can they truly get? Crystal clear too!

Images are about a year behind it looks, because I can see this is from when we first moved into our house before the swingsets were built and some other stuff we changed.

Look for your house/fav places and post up if ya want...pretty cool!

Birds eye images are about 4 years old in my area. I just checked my marina, it's winter and there is a restraunt that sunk in the river and has since been removed; it's still there in the photo... cool though, wish my boat was in.

POST IMAGES PEOPLE!! lol...

Todd, Amazing image...You can almost see the beer can on the port side.

Images up this way were taken in late fall or early spring I'd say, judging by the bare trees. Found my slip (bare) and my boat all wrapped up in blue!

I just shot my whole lunch hour messing around this site. Thanks for the link!

Cheers,

Bill

First one to guess the address of this place gets laid next by their significant other in a goodwill of karma in honor of this place.

Found my marina. Found my friend's 38 Sonic. It really stands out with that bright paint job. Few slips over, is another friend's boat who is in the next slip. Check the next slip and... Just Ducky is missing. Rotten luck to be out on the water that day.
Oh well

Best regards,
Frank

The best part is that you can see if from different angles. At our house, the boat, truck and trailer are all visible. Switch the view and the truck and burb are out, but the boat is gone. I can't wait until they update so I can see the new boat casting a shadow over the property!

Hmmm. Both the blowboat and the SeaRay at home in their births. Can't make out the Jet Ski's, unfortunately. (They MUST be there)

I'm a little dissapointed with the quality, google earth hit our area with a little more definition. Strange though, I don't remember a harley davidson convention going on in front of my house, and why do they think they can park their bikes in my driveway?

These images are not on google and they are not from a satellite. I am pretty sure they are aerial shots on the maps.live.com site.

The maps appear to be five years old. Google Earth has newer photos of us.

In our case these are not satelite images, but aerial. In recent years there has been funding to provide aerial imaging for municipalities to update property land maps and 'sync' them to image and GPS coordinates. Besides improving the property system, there are a number of public works benefits for this. I worked on a project for one our town boards using this data to map the location of residential septic systems in relation to water resources such as wells and wetlands. This was to determine the necessity of installing city sewers in these areas vs tightened septic system inspection.

The reason for the winter views is that there are no leaves on the trees.

 Awesome!

Just kidding ya...makes sense what you said about septics and wetlands etc...looking at my property, we knew there were wetlands all behind us...what I didnt know is how defined they look on the sat image. You can literally see the edge of growth and different groupings of trees all along the wetland line. Interesting.
