So after 30 years of going in and out of the river I got a little to close to the shore and tapped bottom. I was at idle and motor did not shut down. Dove on it Saturday and starboard prop is damaged but keel and strut show no marks. Spinning prop under water seems to indicate more resistance than normal. Could this be cutless bearing damage or should i be worried about a shaft issue?

How bad is the prop? Nicks and edge damage or bent blades?

I would disconnect the shaft coupling at the transmission it should be aligned within about .003-.005" (flat feeler gauge)
Rotate the shaft with a pipe wrench 90 and recheck, then another 90 check, and again.
The alignment (gap) should not change at position if it does shaft is likely bent
And it should rotate easily and equally no bending or "tight spots"

The only way to be absolutely certain would be to haul it and check at the tip of the shaft as it is rotated the the center stays true.

When you pull the props, they can check for a bent shaft/strut.

Oh Boy - Take a look at my adventure on the 500DB 52DB threads..... This sure sounds like a bent strut. I wouldn't take anything apart until the boat is hauled out and everything is looked at as well as TIR on the shaft is done. What I found is it really doesn't take too much to bend a strut in these boats. For sure don't move the engine and attempt a coupling alignment until everything is understood....

Boats out of the water and damage mostly to two blades and other two just dinged up. Prop at repair shop and everything else is 100%. I also bought a set of Acme props in case shop cant get mine fixed or theres a delay

I hit a submerged log and wood shavings got imbedded in the cutlass bearing....made it impossible to rotate by hand. Maybe you just packed mud, clay or sand in there.... it took me a bit to get the slivers out of there with needle nose pliers...but prop spun free after that.

What caused the resistance to rotate the prop?
