I have a 2008 Searay Sport 185(4.3 TK)with Alpha One lower unit. I am fairly new to owning a boat and I hit stump going slow and now the prop engages but goes very slowly, like something is slipping. The prop was not damaged and I have a about a month left on warranty. Is this something that might be covered. Any help would be great.

Won't be covered under warranty, but it would be covered under your insurance - comprehensive, not collision.

If there's no damage to your prop (aluminum?) I don't see how you would damage the hub (flow torque). But, pull the prop anyway. Pull out the inner plastic hub and inspect.

It is aluminum, I can't see how there was no damage either. I pull it apart and have a look.

Was there a smell of burnt rubber anytime after you hit the stump?? If there was, you may possibly have spun the engine coupler.

It turned out to be the hub. I couldn't get the damaged one off, so I had to leave and let prop shop do it. I'm looking to buy a new prop, maybe a little lower pitch or stainless. I want to used my alum. one for spare. What is a good internet source for props?

Thanks for the help, Dennis
