I agree with Frank and the rest about the prop. It is possible to have an intermittent vibration due to a slightly bent prop or shaft. Much like a tire out of balance can find a speed in which it either vibrate or run smooth.

I told you not to plane around here... but Noooooo you saw everyone else zipping around and thought it was OK. I've hit 3 LOGS around Manhattan. Luckily all were off plane so I had time to react when you hear the thud. I've also caught HUGE ropes and garbage bags. Just go slow and enjoy the sites.

    Mike,
I only blame myself. Looking back at the accident it could have been avoided with slow speed. But, I've seen a floating log in the area around Tapanzee bridge. So, it sounds like we should be going slow all the time in the Hudson.

    Just a quick update:

My marina manager gave me a tip how to check the props. It worked like a charm. I dove down and using one point of reference turned the prop watching how each blade is touching that point. Sure enough the port side prop had one blade obiously off and another one slightly. This morning I got the call from the prop shop conforming that starboard side was perfect while port side has two blades bent. So, once again Frank W. was right on the money.

That's good news. Did you take the props off yourself in the water or did the marina have to pull the boat?

    Bob,
I had a short haul (she's hanging on the lift) and I pulled the props out myself.

I would also have the runout on the prop shaft checked.

Has he ever been off the money? I can't remember one time.

If I only had prop damage, my marina would have done the same thing. It has been on land since 6/21 but hopefully will be back in the water tomorrow.

I did the same with our 320 after I got the props back, the boat ran super smooth. So if it makes you feel any better, the smoothness was really nice and both engines at WOT hit identical RPM's

Yep, we're very lucky to have Frank. BTW, I own my 320 thanks to him.

    Mike,
What would you say is realistic "SAFE ZONE" in the area where I could get back on plane? I've heard about the "dead bodies" (vertically floating telephone poles), I hope it's just during spring time. When we were delivering my friend's boat last spring I've seen large log in the lower bay. On our trip I've seen a log (much smaller than the on I hit) near Tapanzee Bridge. So, I'm trying to understand if it's safe to be on plane anywhere between Verrazano Bridge and Tapanzee Bridge (quite a long stretch).

Glad it's minor. Frank is the voice of reason once again on this forum.

Alex, I assume you got the props off and over to Atlantis... I was looking on-line to see if there are any "deals" on props and found nothing. I wonder if there is a boat junk yard somewhere with late model boasts that we can pull a set off???
