high temp gauge reading 454 merc

newbie post merc 454 high temp gauge reading engine rebuilt only done 40 hrs any ideas :smt021

maybe the problem is gauge you need to confirm temp with a laser thermometer, if not look your impeler and clean the heat exchanger if you have one
