High 5 Prop Reviews ( success or dissapointment)

I generally agree and was pretty set on staying with the 17p (which is my dealer's suggestion) except I've seen a couple posts on this forum and others stating that the 17p High Five really doesn't work as well as the other models due to its slightly different size/design. Decisions, decisions. Thanks for your input.

Spent a week in Tahoe with the boat and prop and thought I would share my experience. We have a new 200SD with the standard 3-blade 17p SS prop (the Mirage). Never really had any issues with power while boating, even when wakeboarding or skiing, but we haven't had the boat long. I got the 17p Quicksilver version of the Hi-5 for Tahoe (and future high elevation trips) from Nettle Props in Texas (good folks there) and I thought it worked great. We don't care about top end much (35 mph is pretty much our speed limit with the family on board) and so it didn't bother me that we never got above 36-38 mph while in Tahoe. RPMs were around 4600-4800 at that point. Watersports were great. While towing the medium- to smaller-sized folks I could get on plane early (even better than at our local lake) and easily stay there around 16-20 mph (where my folks like to be). Our one big guy (230 lbs) was a little bit more of a challenge to get on plane but it didn't take much. We always had a pretty full boat with people and gear (usually 5-6 people and coolers, boards, skis, towable, etc.). So maybe the 3-blade would have done fine but we had a great trip and the new prop really seemed to work out well. I left the Hi-5 on and will hopefully try it out at our local lake this weekend to see if it can be our every day prop. We'll see.

I have a 2003 200 BR 5.0 that had a 19P Vengeance on it - 50-51mph @ 49-5000rpm with a poor hole shot. I bought a new 4 blade aluminum 18P and am running 45-48mph @ 4800rpm - much better for pulling the massive tube (Bandwagon) we got this summer. I lost some speed but the lower-end is much better and keeping the speed consistent is much improved as well. I wanted the "High 5" but I also wanted to put some $ into an amp and sub-woofer.

I purchased my 2006 195 Sport, 4.3MPI with a 21P mirage plus. With this prop I was reaching 44.8MPH @ 4000RPM (GPS). I recently changed over to the 19P High Five and now reach 47.1MPH @ 4750RPM. Better holeshot / acceleration was my promary motivation for the change. All in all, I think this was a great choice of prop for my setup. Oh and btw, I also added Smart Tabs between the two prop runs listed above. I'm sure the combinationof the two has a lot to do with how pleased I am with the overall performance of the boat.

Hi Five has much less bow lift plus you can play with the vent plugs to get more RPM on launch and get the engine to its power band quickly resulting in quicker hole shots.
My boat needs a 19P prop and after not being satified with the 19P Hi-5, I just installed a 17P Hi-5. What a difference, yes I can now over-rev with a load in the boat but when this prop is on, it's time for watersports. I always take my 3 blade 19P with me as a back-up or if we are going cruising when the water is too rough for watersports.
