My Sd200 and the stock prop is not getting it done for us so I have a High 5 coming. Just curious what I should expect.

I have one. It came with my boat. Seems to work well, but, I'm a newb so I don't know any difference.

Mine came with a 21P High Five and it did OK with a light load. With that load it was good for 48 at 4800. With a heavy load it just felt flat (accelerated slowly/laboriousy) but still maintained a decent top end of around 42mph @ 4200 (I just noticed the coincidence. LOL). It felt like a dof out of the hole, especially out of the corners. It could be weight, right?

Anyway, Searay recommends a 19P Vengeance for this boat/motor combo and the H5 is to match the same pitch according to Mercruiser albeit at a slightly lower top end.

So, I found a 19P on Craigslist that showed up Friday and I ran it for the first time today with a similar heavy load of 6 adults and a child. It was a noticeable improvement in hole shot and responsiveness over the 21P. It was also easier to maintain speed which I thought was interesting. I was not able to test the top end since the lake was not smooth enough but still achieved 40 very easily. The boat had significantly more punch.

I'm thrilled although I honestly have nothing else to compare it to except another H5.

Great feedback so far guys.

I was out Saturday and took a GPS with me and recorded a few different speed/RPM ranges with my current set up. I will do the the same this week when the High 5 comes in. With my current 19p Vengence SS the boat really struggles to get on plane even with 400lbs of ballast up front. I think my boat just has a heavy ass.

Thanks again,
Troy

I went from the stock 3 blade aluminum 23p to a 19p high five this year. I lost approx. 2-3 mph on the top end ( 51 to 48 ), but the hole shot and ease of holding speed is light years better. Many times while pulling boarders ( 18-22mph ), I never even touch the throttle. I will probably still add Perfect Pass, but this prop definitely performs as advertised.
Good Luck
JL

I upgraded to a 19p HighFive from a 19p Vengeance 6 years ago and have never looked back. The hole shot is much improved, most noticeably when I have 6 or so people on the boat, or when pulling up a slalom skier. I did lose some top end, but I pull a skier a lot more often than I run all out. I do still use the 3 blade when it's just me and the wife, but that's only about once a year.

Troy - what prop are you currently running? What pitch high five did you go with?

My currenty set up is stock ( Vengence 19) As for the high five replacement. I won an ebay auction for a 17 pitch. I know my wot will be on the rev limiter but I really don't care about top speed. I would prefer to cruise and save the wear & tear.

I can over-rev my boat with the high five, but only when it's just one or two people in the boat. If I have more, it isn't an issue.

I've been playing with a 21pitch high five this week as my boat came with a 21 aluminiumwhen I bought it even though I've now checked with sea ray and they state it should be a 19. However, it spins up well, gets on the plane within seconds and still gets up to 40mph (Checked with gps). And the wot doesn't go above 4500 rpm.

Thanks for the info Kermit.
Looks like I might be ok.
Hopefully the mail man will have it today. I think I got a good deal. I won the auction and paid $182.00 + $25.00 shipping.

Yes, you did. Mine came to $295, delivered, off of Craigslist (out of town). It looks like a new prop so I cannot complain.

That's a really great deal. I'm sure you will tear it up 0 to 30

Has anyone switched from a 3-blade 17p to a High-Five 19p? We picked up a new 200 Sundeck in June and it came with a Mirage SS 17p. So far, so good, though we do get a lot of bow rise overall (smart tabs may be in the future, though I'm still researching their impact on wakeboarding). We're looking to head up to Tahoe and similar altitudes and so we are looking for another prop for those kind of trips. Right now I am leaning towards the Quicksilver QST (High Five w/o vents) but am trying to decide whether we should stay at 17p or move to 19p. Anyone have any thoughts?

I should have mentioned in my post above that we usually have a pretty full boat (most often four adults and two kids but sometimes we add two more adults). Also, I don't care about top speed at all right now--just ride comfort and a good low planing speed for wakeboarding.

The school of thought on the High Five is to stick with the same pitch if that pitch is working for you right now. So, if you are a 17P now and you don't overrev, you should stick with a 17 H5. I have personally never tested any other prop except the High Five as that's what came with my boat.

We boat at very close to sea level (3-500 feet) and run a 19P High Five now. I also have a 21P that came with the boat. The boat is pretty weight sensitive with the 4.3 and a heavy hull to boot. The 21P is great for two people and will run at around 48mph at 4800 RPM. However, the motor does not have enough torque to turn that prop (21P) with 7 people and get above 4200 RPM at 42mph (speedo.) It also sluggish out of turns, on plane etc. The 19P is much snappier. I was finally able to fine smooth water last night and with 5 adults and 2 kids, the 19P will pull 43-44mph at 4600-4800 RPM. While the top speed is a bit under what I would like, the motor is in the powerband at WOT so it's where it's supposed to be.

The SeaRay prop guide is on target for my boat. It is spec'd for a 19P Vengeance and we are back to a 19P prop, albeit a High Five. I still have the 21P and will use it as a spare or when I am lightly loaded and want more speed.

I had a 17p Vengeance on my 185 (4.3 V6) and changed to a 19p High 5. I love it. Hole shot is better, easier to hold constant speed. On mine the 17p revved up too much, even when at high altitude. Our boating involves lakes near sea level as well as at 5200 ft. I used to switch between a 21p 3 blade aluminum prop for the low altitude and the 17p three blade stainless for the high altitude. I use the high 5 for both now. It's a little slower at altitude compared to sea level but still works great. I also recommend the smart-tabs. My son tells me there is no difference in the wake.

I generally agree and was pretty set on staying with the 17p (which is my dealer's suggestion) except I've seen a couple posts on this forum and others stating that the 17p High Five really doesn't work as well as the other models due to its slightly different size/design. Decisions, decisions. Thanks for your input.
