Our 2006 (new to us) has some issues leveling off and staying there under 23mph. She runs like a scalded dog between 24 and 51mph, but drop down lower and the nose starts to come up and she draggs in the water like the anchor is out. Running a stainless 3 blade on it now. Looking to go with a High 5 prop.
Would this help? What are some issues in considering the High 5? Are there any other suggestions for a cure? I do need to slow down when pulling tubes. Thanks in advance Matt

I have a four blade on my 19spx OB and it helps a lot with hole shot, staying on plane at Lower speeds and backing down. I went down 2 deg of pitch when going to the four blade. I am not sure if the Fifth blade takes that a step further. You lose a bit of top speed with a 4 blade vs 3 blade.

Thank you. We are not speed deamons, I need the 15-23mph more than the 50mph. I had the High 5 on my Rinker and it still let me Barefoot. But this boat really draggs down and you have to work the throttle like an off shore race boat to stay on plane. We do a lot of Extreme Tube riding.

Just to be sure... you're trimming all the way down (or very close to it) when at the low speeds?

The High-5 will help, but it's not going to drop your planing speed as much as you want. What would ABSOLUTELY help is installing trim tabs or even simple Smart Tabs (google them or search on here about them). They will make a night and day difference.

Yes I am trimming all the way down. I'll look into the Smart Tabs, but as for pitch size is there a way to determine what I should go with?

There is no "one-size-fits-all" answer when it comes to prop sizing. There are just way too many variables - even from the same boat/engine to combo to another of the same as the boats can be used in different ways with different amounts/weights of people onboard. But, generally, you would stick with the same pitch on the Hi-5 as you currently have. However, in your case I'd suggest dropping 2"... realizing that you may now be able to over-rev the engine... but you can control that. Talk with a good prop shop - they may let you try several props.

But again, hands down, the best bang for the buck is tabs.

Reach out to Ken at propgods and ask his opinion. He usually nails it right on.
