I tried to search on this and came up empty, so if anyone can help that would be great. I am getting a HI PS warning on the A/C system...cleaned the strainer and air filters and it didn't fix the issue. Sometimes it will run for 15-20 minutes then shut down, other times not as long. Water spits out the side so it seems as though the flow is okay but I keep getting the error. Any other suggestions on what I might be able to do to fix this on my own? Thank you in advance!

Typically it means you are not getting enough water. Take notice to see if the water pump is shutting down before you get the error code. If not, either the pump is bad or the inlet may have growth.

I had the same problem, cleaning filter didn't help so I took the filter out of the strainer, left the top open, then using full pressure from a garden hose, back flushed from the water outlet thru the AC unit all the way back to the open strainer and an unbelievable amount of crud and crap came out. Now AC works better than ever.

I like this idea...I am assuming there will be a ton of water that ends up in the bilge area though if I am understanding you correctly...just checking before doing...thanks!

You have a pluged up ac unit with marine crud put a garden hose to line that goes up front and blow out the lugies. Air and water work the best let it go up and then drain down and air in line will work wonders system must be off you might have to burp when done have a helper watch what comes out.

I had the same problem, you are not getting sufficient water flow. When you open your strainer do you get a heavy flow of water?
If Doc's plan doesn't clear it up close the seacock and hook your garden hose to the strainer input. Turn the hose on full blast and run the AC see if the flow improves and if the AC shuts off. If the problem is solved the problem is between the through hull and your strainer. Put on your flipper and face mask and get wet, you'll probably find a partial blockage at your through hull like the plastic bag I found.

Good luck, Art

i have had to clean my strainer every other week. i hooked a garden hose to a t valve i installed for winterizing and ran it for a while. that seemed to help mine. i do notice that when i open the thru hull with the strainer top off, it does not come in as fast as. thought it would. i am wondering if the inlet hose from the thru hull is getting restricting?

Using lawyerly disclaimer language, make sure your seacock is closed doing this. My bilge pump was easily able to keep up with the garden hose amount of water dumped into the bilge. In addition, the nasty a/c crud water smelled terrible!!!

Thank you everyone for the great responses! I tried everything suggested to no avail. As it turned out, the water pump to the system was bad. Ouch, that was expensive to have replaced. As much as I have learned from this group, I am not the most handy guy around and had to resort to the professionals to figure it out and make the fix. Oh well, it is back up and running and the meat locker has been restored!
