I started my collection late in life. I have been getting these as Christmas gifts from my wife for about 15 years now. Every Christmas I put a few of them under the tree. Anyone else collect these? How old is your collection? I"ve been told they made a boat one year which is very rare and highly collectible. My favorite so far is the one with the Space Shuttle . What's yours?

No toy collections here, all I collect are invoices for boating expenses, parts & repairs!

Yep, my parents have been giving them to me for years off and on. Just opened their 2011 Car Hauler/race car setup gift from them last night. Not sure how many I have but I have alot. Will go and check to see if I have the boat version.

collections are for enjoyment not resale
if you love looking at them they are wonderful
but the worst "investment" one can make....similar to boats

If you do, and don't mind parting with it, I'd be interested in buying it from you.

I only got one growing up. It was the green tanker truck (18 wheeler). I used to love playing with that thing. I got my son this year's model. Should be fun Sunday night when it gets dark and we can drive it around the room at night.

Got the fire truck for my son when he was 5. He's now 16. Grandkids play with it now. Last I looked the tires had departed the rims. They still push it around with the new trucks. Wish I would have known they were that collectable. Oh well the kids got a lot of fun out of it.:smt001

What? 1,600 bucks? I'll have to pass on that one. Not bad for a toy that originally cost 1.69. See, some boats actually do go up in value.

My son has about 15 of them....a present every year from his great aunt & uncle. He's 22 now and still thinks they are cool but are dust collectors. Just washed them all the other day while room cleaning. Some have yellowed a bit and that surprised me, Mike.

Wow, I have never seen those before, very cool. I have a 6 year old grandson who loves trucks...... wish I would have seen this thread a little earlier. Oh well, grandpas can send gifts anytime, right? :smt001

Been buying our son one since he was born. It's been 8 years now. We buy one for him to play with and one to save. They are pretty cool. Used to like getting them once in a while when I was a kid.
