Here's my tip for the day....what's yours?

Happened to me, heart attack in 2010, spent 4 days at Union Memorial the premiere heart hospital in Baltimore. 4 days of test, told me they could find absolutely no reason why it happened, zero. But now I take my cholesterol pills and heart pills and doctors tell me I am good every checkup.
Like when you take the car to the mechanic and he can’t find anything wrong.
I at least know that it was caused by oxygen starvation from an asthma attack. It is a pretty rare occurrence. It is a mind fuck, I don't know what I'd do if they couldn't find a cause...

Eat the pills and don’t worry. They said could have been a blood clot that dissolved and left no trace. Or the wife found some poison that was untraceable. I watch the ID channel. Shit happens.
But I am safe now, since I retired the company paid, half a million dollar life insurance policy went away. She has no more motive.

Same here. Doctors have no idea where the blood clot came from. I'm just thankful I was home playing with the dogs that evening, rather than my usual evening mountain bike ride in the foothills above town. It would have been a very expensive helicopter ride, or worse! I take my aspirin and a low-dose cholestrol pill every day, and hope for the best.

Make sure your depth finder works. Nothing worse than bottoming out, or smacking a prop.

Ditto for VHF. My Cortex loses its effin' mind if I turn it on before starting the engines. Only solution is to cycle power on the Cortex hub. Not fun when you reach for it to request a bridge opening, and the VHF isn't working, or even worse if you need to call for emergency assistance. You know, like when you run aground because you forgot to check your depth finder...

Bob, if you do frequent passages beneath bridges that have to be raised for you, do you have the phone number of the bridge control tower?

In our area, they give out a central dispatch number (which is actually to the operator of the "King" bridge) that you can call, and then they purportedly will contact the bridge on your behalf. Of course then you don't get an acknowledgement from the actual bridge that they are going to open it for you. You just cruise around in circles hoping.

There are also horn signals you can use, but I can never remember the correct pattern.

Much easier for both the boater and the Bridge Operator to have a short two-way convo on Channel 9. Besides, I like to thank them.
