Hi all,
I couldn't find an answer to my question via a search, but if someone knows of a thread, I'd be happy to look there.

Situation: I have a DA 260 with 7.4L and bravo3. We love the boat but wish it is a bit quieter. The big motor puts out a good amount of noise at slow or higher speeds.

Question: Does better soundproofing of the engine compartment make a sizable difference for a bravo3 boat? When listening to the motor noise, it seems most is coming from the behind the transom for which sound proofing would seem to make little to no difference. But of course it's really hard to tell. I've sound proofed boats with Alpha drives and it makes a huge difference, but the exhaust on an alpha is mostly around the props deep in the water. The bravo 3 exhaust is not around the props and pretty high in the water giving limited muffling.

If it'll help, I'll order some 4x8 sheets today.

Thanks,

Never tried, but I have contemplated getting rid of that foam/egg crate under the hatch and replacing it with rigid insulation. Partly just because it's getting old and starting to deteriorate. I don't see how it could make it worse?

If you do it, I'd have no problems hearing about your results!

With all of you do-it-yourselfers...someone must have tried this and has something to say??
