Hi fellow boaters. Does anyone have a part number or an idea of where I can purchase new gas springs (Struts) for a 2003 Sea Ray Sundeck 220? Orig Part Number is 813980 ( i think) its hard to tell from the diagram. My engine hatch needs new ones!
Thanks!

You can use that part number to buy it from your local dealer - or, actually, you won't even need the part number at your dealer as they'll know. Be careful about online places claiming to be specialists for SR parts - their prices are typically higher than your dealer!

But if you look again at your parts manual (or right on the gas spring) it will often give you the measurements (open and closed) along with the poundage. With that, you can buy it other places. Don't get the cheapie ones, though - they won't last. You can also physically measure the closed/open distance, if you want. 10mm stud ball.

That's OK - re-read the first sentence in my second paragraph :)

I think you're out of his league with that post... :)

Just trying to help - even if something in that thread might be useful. Progressive offers a wide assortment of struts & actuators; I figured OP may find what they need there.

Sure. But he's not looking for anything like that - he's looking for a gas spring - like what holds a car hood open.

Sorry-I ordered a strut the same time I ordered the actuators & thought I remembered they came from the same place. I got the strut for my aft locker from Taylor Made - they have a variety of lengths & strength:

I’ll see my way out, now.

No worries! I hope you didn't take offense to anything - it certainly wasn't meant as such. I was just trying to keep it on track for Planet's sake.
