Have a 97 330 sundancer with twin i/o's 7.4L big blocks.
Long story. We took and hour cruise to a resort marina over the weekend. On the way there maybe 15 minutes into trip the starbourd engine overheated and the bigle started pumping water. Turned it off and limped back on one engine to home marina. turned out to be a hose from the lower unit that the clamp broke and water going into bilge . Re attache hose and new clamp and all was good, headed back out to the resort and it ran great. Coming back two days later no problems ran great. Stopped at our marina and headed out to a little island we all go to, ran great all the way out there. powerd down to set anchor and the warning lights and alarm came on again it had overheated again. Check all the hoses and clamps no leaks.
No water in oil either. Just keeps overheating now.
Any suggestions would be great.
thanks.

They are bravo drives. The hose did come completley off and the water was runing out from the engine into the bilge so Im wondering if the lower unit was pumping it into the engine then out into the bilge and not into the impellar and your right that would burn it out.

Not too familar with the sterndrive set up. Are your engines totally raw water cooled or is a mixture of fresh water (antifreeze) and then raw water? If they are fresh water cooled then I would look at the thermostat, might just be stuck or need replaced.

I don't think there is a pick up pump in the bravo drives well not the 3's maybe the others do have one.

The other suspect, as posted here, would be a partially damaged impeller that finally worked its way loose and is not pumping or a fin is blocking up the flow causing the overheat condition to re-appear...

They are raw water cooled. It starts but im afraid to keep running it to see if maybe i picked up a bag or something. I just hate changing the impellar. Hoping All I did was pick something up.
Any one know any site that will show changing impellar and diagram of engine.

most likely impeller.get in there and check it.If it is broken, make sure you get all the pieces out
