HELP! Replaced stock radio now it receives no power and my boat is alarming

Hello! I’m in need of some advice. I have a 2004 Sea Ray 200 Select with a 5.0 Mercruiser. The factory radio went out so I replaced with a marine Kenwood and went ahead and updated the speakers while I was at it. Everything worked great for about 15 min. Then, the radio shut down and the boat started alarming. I’ve pulled all fuses under the dash (with none directly related to the radio), the stereo memory fuse by the battery, and the 2 inline fuses (yellow and red wire) behind the radio. All were good. If I put the radio directly on the battery, it works. I connected an ohms meter to the yellow wire and it reads 12.4 Volts, the red ignition wire reads nothing. What am I missing?

wow mine did the EXACT same thing. Did you try starting the boat, if so did alarm go off? I was told the alarm is due to no oil pressure when sitting there not running and key turned on.
I just ordered a different radio to see if it works. I was thinking the radio may not be compatible for some reason.
I wish I took a pic of the yellow and red wires before I cut the old harness off. One of the posts below is making me wonder if the red and yellow are opposite from the radio red and yellow.

The alarm CANNOT be a different cause. It 100% has to be caused from the radio. Cannot be a coincidence that we both had the exact same issue. Alarm has never done that until now with new radio. Did not touch anything else either.

Checked all my fuses just yesterday and they are all good as well.

I ended up taking it to the shop (had to anyway for routine maintenance) they said they fixed my radio. I’m picking it up Wednesday. I’ll let you know exactly what they found, but I know the radio caused something to ground out. I’ll find out exactly what it was and let you know.

CONGRATS!! Awesome, can’t wait to find out. You rock!!!

Sorry. I picked it up Wed and the guy that physically done the work wasn’t there. They said a in line fuse somewhere shot. I’m not sure where the fuse was, I checked all visible fuses I could trace. However; my boat was beeping due to low gear drive fluid, not the radio. Radio is working perfectly now. Sorry I couldn’t be more specific. I was hoping he could point out exactly where it was. Hope this helps though!

Yeah I’ll have to check the gear drive fluid wherever that is. Weird that both of ours started happening at the exact moment we swapped the radio. Hmmmm
