Help!! Over heating only in water

There is a small round seal that goes in the top of the pump housing where the tube goes in and also a matching one in the receiving piece in the upper unit. There is also a round seal that goes around the shaft that sits on top of the pump housing to keep water from coming out around the shaft.

So I pulled outdrive and found numerous issues like impeller gaskets in wrong position also there was a oring water gasket missing from the upper unit where the water tube connects from the impeller housing tube to the upper unit as liquid wrench said it was never there as he unit never came with it?? And the fins were facing the wrong way as well issue I have now is after replacing out drive I can't get gears

So I ended up pulling the whole drive and now I can't get gears

Did you place it in forward before you pulled the drive? Also when you put it back you need to keep tension on propeller while it is in gear

So I took boat out today and everything is great!! She running cool as ice.. And I got my gears back
