Unfortunately this weekend I pulled the boat out of the garage for a trip to the lake and upon uncovering (Sunbrella Bow & Cockpit Covers) I discovered some mildew on the rear of the sunpad. I'm a bit perplexed on how this occurred as I have never had this issue. I store my boat in my attached garage with cover installed.
Before putting it up last time I had removed all mats, etc washed down thoroughly and then left open for several days with a fan inside to dry. Once dry I wipe down the cushions with some 303 protector then install the bow and cockpit covers. This has been my procedure for years and never had the first touch of mildew...especially stored indoors.
The cover has felt sewn in where it contacts the sunpad, did my cover by chance have some moisture remaining in the felt? I've got to go clean this on my normally immaculate interior as it really stands out on the tan (Select Package). How do I prevent this in the future...where did I go wrong. I'm usually pretty meticulous to try and keep our "new" boat in brand new condition. This is our 4th season on the 21 SPX.

Probably just a freak thing. Sounds like you have a pretty good plan.

I have seen some conjecture that the protectants we all use contain enough bio material to feed mold and better not to use them when covering in moist conditions. But your regimen sounds solid and is the same thing I would do.
