HELP! I did something stupid! (Left the drain plug in and it rained)

By me after sandy the boats that were effected they washed them with fresh water removed starter and alt and put them in an oven at 350 for ten minutes to dry them out.
than the rest was plenty of wd40. Almost all the ring terminals on the batteies had to be replaced.

This is just what I observed

UPDATE: THE BOAT RUNS!

The mechanic replaced the starter and cleaned the alternator (didn't change it), and replaced all of the engine-specific wires. It started right up.

What works:
--Engine runs
--Horn works
--Blower works
--Nav lights work
--Depth finder works

Still having problems with:
--Trim motor not working
--Bilge not working

Suggestions on the two things that are not working? My mechanic is a client of mine, and is a car mechanic. He doesn't really know about boats (but his services are free, so I can't really complain). I doubt the bilge shorted out (they are water proof right?).

What about the trim motor? Where should I start with that?

As above clean connections then check for voltage my guess is your bilge pump was gone before the rain. The trim pump has a fuse on it and a motor that has a solenoid switch that reverses the voltage for up and down running of the motor.

Where should I check with a volt meter?

For the bilge pump mine has two barrel connectors part way up from the pump. You can disconnect them and measure 12 volts there with the dash switch on.

On the trim pump there are obvious ground points on the mounting bracket. Black probe on the ground point then find the largest red wire and start probing the red lead around on the solenoid. you can also try listening for a click at the solenoid when pressing the trim switch. there is a fuse on the trim pump also.

look here for some drawings on the trim pump. http://boatinfo.no/lib/library.html

The boat is in storage for a few days until I have time next week to mess around with it. It looks like I might need to change the trim motor and solenoids.

Latest update: Motor runs. I changed the trim pump today and it runs. Looks like everything is fixed!

Great news, pleased it wasn't as bad as you thought:)
