2018 Sea Hunt 255se w/Yamaha 300hp
I'm have a surveyor checking out a boat I'm buying today and I've found a couple of issues yesterday and would like some guidance. The boat is an '05 420 Sundancer w/8.1L gas and hardtop.

1) Raymarine RM300 is frozen. Can see screen from last use and the keyboard beeps when button are pushed but there is no reaction whatsoever. The power button doesn't even turn it off. Is there some kind of factory reset/reboot that will help this or is it fried?

2) Took the boat out and the engines and transmissions seemed to work beautifully, however the boat only topped out at 23 knots and I was under the impression it should hit 26-27. The engine RPM's at WOT was 4100. They boat is an '05 and has been in freshwater since new (lake of the Ozarks) but still has the orginal bottom paint. From the surface the bottom doesn't look too bad but who knows.

3) Horn doesn't work and I've checked the breaker by you knees. Anything else to look for?

Will be spending 4-6 hours on it today so not sure what else I'll find but that's what I know for sure.

Thanks for any help.

Haul and power wash the bottom....before you close. Then go for another test ride. Slime will definitely cause drag. You should see 4400-4880 (closer to the 4800) WOT RPMs.

The RAY300...you may want to first hold down the power key for 5 to 10 seconds to see if it powers down. If not, try disconnecting the power from the source. And check the batteries to make sure you have enough voltage.

Here's the factory reset from the manual....

6.2 Resetting the System
Two types of reset are available:

Power-On Reset: When you turn the display unit off, then on again,
the screen reverts to the default GPS plotter display.

Factory Reset: This resets all values back to their original factory settings.
Note:

Take care; Factory Reset clears all Waypoint and Route databases.
At power-on, the last-used values are retained for all the options, except
for those listed in Table 6-1 which are reset to the factory default each
time.

To perform a Factory Reset:
1. Press the MENU key to access the SET UP soft keys.
2. Press the SYSTEM SET UP soft key.
3. Press and hold the MENU key until <RESET IN Xs> countdown timer is
displayed.

On a boat that size I would make sure the horn works

Thanks everyone.

Reset on RN300 worked and it looks good.

Horn now works after surveyor (who was very familiar with the 420) showed me where the breakers were.

Too late on the haul out and rerun because I've already left the area. We did haul it out and the bottom needs to be redone. I'm sure that contributed, along with the fact the boat sat for a long time and wasn't run. I'm have a compression check done today and new plugs. Bottom will be painted when it arrives in Texas. Those items should help. BTW, I was told 4200-4600 was max RPM at WOT for the 8.1s. Is that incorrect?

Thanks for all the help!

Yes. 4800 is the high output motor, not the Horizon-S.

The big money hasn't changed hands yet so I'm still planning for the worst but it's looking very promising. :smt001
