Help!!!! Cabin steps/door

I need some help please, I'm trying to reinstall the cabin door/steps on my 1997 230 overnighter (see photos) that I acquired previous owner removed the steps for some reason, all the Hardware is there but for the life of me I can't figure out how to install the steps.

I believe you are going to have to remove the helm panel in order to place the door on it's tracks, then reinstall the helm panel.

It does look like it might be possible to remove that lower track, slip the door into the upper track and then install the lower track. That little chrome thing at the bottom is intended to keep the door from sliding closed when the boat is rocking.
