Hello everyone,

I'm Chris (AKA Nektopoli) and I've convinced myself that I need to get back into boating, and decided I want a Sea Ray this time around.
While I'm 18 to 24 months out from a purchase (I'm in the market for a new house 1st). I'm doing my homework. This has my narrowing
it down to a 300DA, 320DA or 340DA if I can swing it. One of the thing I've noticed shopping the online want ads is the updated interiors
and the addition of the Conversation Pit that converts to a bed under the helm (the main reason I'm going with a 300DA and not a smaller).
I'm also trying to get into a Sea Ray with the updated dinette and cushions like the 2002+ 300DA have.

I've done a fair share of boating in the mid 90's including cutting my teeth in a 86' Bayliner and spending time on a Fountain 10M 33 Executioner,
which was an honest 100+ MPH boat and choking on 2 stoke fumes from 4 Evinrude 300XP V8 hanging off the back of a Sutphen.

Now I just want to relax....

My two cents from the FWIW Dep't.

1. Don't rule out older boats. A well maintained 20 year boat is better than a "meh" maintained 5 year old boat.
2. Don't get sucked in by Marketeers.

Welcome. I still love the older 88's they were built by SeaRay before they sold out to Brunswick. The 80's hulls were thick and well built. Enjoy the hunt

The Axius System is looking really attractive and this will push my into a 2008 or newer. Also the interior styling on newer boats (like the 2002+ 300DA) is a must have. I love all the updating being done by the members, the upgrading flooring and the re-upholstering can save an 80s boat (I LOVE the 80s but not that much).

My recommendation would be to save your money and not get Axius, but instead get V-drive inboards, and a bow thruster. Low maintenance on the transmission, no outdrive maintenance, and really easy to maneuver. You pay more for gas on the v-drive inboards, though. I think when buying used, simplicity is better, but that is just one opinion.

I had an 08 330 with v-drives. I highly recommend the 08 & 09 330's in this size. Extremely well designed boat in every aspect. A bow thruster is completely unnecessary with this boat. Handles very well around the docks even with wind and current. Put polycarbonate windshield pieces in this boat and it feels like a much larger vessel.
