Hi Folks, glad to be aboard. Looking at a 1984 270 with single 350 mercruiser for fishing and family trips. Any suggestions on what to look for, how to deal, what to offer are most welcome. Thanks so much.

Welcome aboard, and good luck with your purchase. Would suggest you spend (literally) six or seven hours reading through some of the threads on surveyors, and costs of repairs, and negotiating. While the process may sound daunting, there are literally volumes of information in this forum on those subjects.

I had a 1992 27' dancer with single eng. nice boat. Can't really help price wise but go to yachtworld.com and you'll know in 5 minutes what the asking prices are. More important would be the condition as the keeping and maintaining costs are the ones that are going to be around for a while. I had a trailer for mine, are you ? A 1984 with a motor or drive that goes in a year or two could cost you more than a 1998 !?!

I agree! Sit back, search and read. Its worth it. Everything you need to know is in this forum.

PS get a good surveyor to really check out this boat as a newer boat for more money might actually be a better deal.

You guys are great. Will do the reading & research based on your topics. The one I'm considering has a heavy duty trailer that is fairly new. I'm sure to be back with more questions. Thanks so much.
