h everyone, My name is Gordon Young. I am British and have lived in New Hampshire for nine years. I lived in Georgia in the early 80s where I sold general aviation aircraft and delivered twins from europe. I had a 43 ft. Fairline in Menorca off the coast of Spain in the Med for many years and now have a 27ft Bayliner which I keep on a lake near the hotel I own. I am looking at purchasing another 45/50foot boat but am learning fast the different pros and cons of American boats. I want to use it and keep it in Florida and have been looking at Carver 466 or Voyager 450 and also a sea Ray 500 or 550 but I have friends in the trucking business who tell me not to buy anything with Detroits in it. does anyone have long term experience with them as I have heard so many differing stories about them especially overheating. Someone told me they had a polymerliner in te block and that melts very qicly if you have any overheating at all, but people tell you so many different stories I dont know if its true. other people say they are on e of the easiest and cheapest engines to overhaul as they were designed to be overhaulled in the jungle in Nam in 8 hours. Once again I have no Idea whether this is true or not. I was in school in Scotland at that time,( but I do hate Jane Fonda). If anyone can shed some light on the subject for me I would be very grateful
