Hello From Guntersville Lake, AL

Thanks, if you're complementing my boat. Couldn't find pic of yours  but I'm sure it's a good looking sport boat. What's her name? And yes, I agree about the deep clean water . . . Smith has claimed several pairs of our sunglasses. It's a beautiful area and I remember the name Rock Creek but it's been so long ago, I can't place it now. Yep, maybe we'll run into each other somewhere, someday . . .

Welcome to the Board. Saw your location and brought a lot of memories. I lived in Huntsville from 1965-1970 and my folks had a cottage on Gunterville lake. Did a lot of boating and skiing on that lake.
Had our Sea Ray Aquapalooza on Lake Cumberland, Ky on 7/21. There were around 50 Sea Rays all tied up and a great time it was.

I think you'd be surprised to see how much the Guntersville Lake waterfront has changed since you were there. There are restaurants, condos, campgrounds, boat ramps, parks, marinas, upscale waterfront homes, etc., etc. You should take a look just for old time's sake. Awesome! Fishing is still great but not as great as it used to be years ago as they say the lake is slowly filling in and there is an ongoing battle between the waterfront property owners and the milfoil. Used to have great boat races here but no longer, those were moved to Gadsden a long time ago. All said and done, it's still a great lake for boating, fishing & camping with plenty of room for everybody. We had our 1st AquaPalooza on 7/21 also and it was fantastic! Over 90 boats showed up.

Hey James and Pat,
There are still informal boat races every now and then between Covenant Cove and the Holiday Inn on the weekends. Always fun to see who gets smoked. I keep my boat at Seibold, and it's too big to make it under the bridge, so I'm usually a guest on someone else's boat at Covenant Cove. If you ever get by Seibold marina/campground, feel free to come over to C12 (2nd dock) and we'll share a cold one. My boat is 'Born A Gin', the one with the 8 year old who won't leave the DVD player alone. :smt009 Still working on that part.

Hey Neighbor! We know Seibold well. Slipped there for nearly 5 years before moving over to Signal Point (B106) with the rest of our gang over a year ago. Do you know "Drift Away" and "O'Charlie"? There were a couple of others that I think may be at Covenant Cove now. I bet you know "The Sandbar" too. Our gang has hung out there on weekends for the last 12+ years. Our 290 will go under the Town Creek bridge so we still go there occasionally. We're more into rafting up nowadays. I've not heard of any races still in GSV. We kinda keep up with a friend of ours who races boats on the side. He raced at Gadsden a couple of weeks ago. But anyhow, it's great to meet a fellow GSV boater!. Will keep a look out for ya!

Yep, know them both well. Charlie gets my vote for most helpful boater of the year. The sandbar is a regular hangout, though mine is too big to beach....always looking for someone else to tie next to. It gets a little too 'adult' sometimes for my son though. We go to Snake island occassionally also. Before Seibold I've stayed at Covenant Cove, Allred, and Sunrise also. Hard to beat Seibold's rates though.

I agree, Charles is a great guy. We slipped next to him. He was always there to help out. It does get a little wild at the "Bar" sometimes. We must admit tho, we had our own wild times there back when our gang ruled the sandbar. It's a whole different bunch nowadays. Do you know a yellow Pachanga "Tuff Enuff" who frequents the Bar? That guy is an old Seibolder too and a close friend of ours. And yes, the rates were very good at Seibold, we started out at $85 and was paying $145 when we left. They rose that much during the time we were there. But the spiders, spider poop, dirt daubers, snakes, skeeters and birds were too much. I wonder, did they ever set up electric meters for each slip? The mgmt had threatened to do that for a while. I think it was going to be really expensive for them tho so they kept putting it off. Have not heard of a Snake Island, where is it? I may know it by some other name.

The Hard Docl Cafe is a great place to relax after a day on the water. They usually have some decent live bands on the weekends also. Welcome to the board.

Howdy Neighbor. Are you at Signal Pt.? I think I've seen "Robins Nest". If you're on C-dock then you know Aces Wild, Elliott is a good friend of ours. We haven't been down alot lately either. Grandkids' sports have started and we can't miss going to their games. :smt038 Plus, it's been so HOTTT! We may be boatless for the next couple of weeks, gotta do a haul-out to replace some seals - gear oil reservoir keeps empying. :smt089 Anyhow, glad to meet another GSV boater.

Welcome to the board jamesgang....even though it's been a couple months

yes i know richard ,my brothers boat is across and down one ,you might know him to he was also at siebolds, his name is tony

Would his wife's name be Wanda? If so, yep, we know em. We're B-106. Our 290 is at Angler Marine at Goose Pond being checked out for some "minor difficulties" right now. When those are taken care of . . . "We'll Be Back!"
