Been prowling thru the Board for a while and decided to join in. Looks to be a great forum w/knowledgeable members from all over. Hope there are some fellow 290 owners here as I will be posting a couple of issues in the forums. We’re actually from Hartselle, Alabama, but have camped and boated on Guntersville Lake (Tennessee River) since like forever. Our first boat was a brand new 1987 Ebbtide Dynatrac Limited Edition Fish-n-Ski w/150 Yamaha which, by the way, we still own. She’s taken us fishing, playing, and has towed many a water toy for the grandkids, She’s still our pampered beauty. Then in 2001, we gave up the camper and bought our first cruiser, a 1988 SR250 Sorrento. Had her for four years before falling madly in love with a 1998 SR290DA we saw at a repo dealer. Didn’t win the bid but now knowing what we wanted, found another just like her in Knoxville. Took us a month to make up our minds that she’s the one but we finally did and took the plunge. That was two years ago come August. We’re still just as crazy about her. On weekends you’ll find us either at the marina or on the lake somewhere usually with the grandchildren who have camped and boated with us even before they could walk. They’re closing in on their teens now and what with ballgames, cheerleading, etc., they just don’t get to come with us often as we’d like. We’ve been as far north as Hales Bar in TN in early November for their annual Color Cruise Festivals. We have yet to cruise down the south way but plans are in the works for a weekend cruise down to Ditto Landing in Huntsville, then on to the Hard Dock Café at the Riverwalk Marina in Decatur for an evening of dining and dance. We are looking forward to the first-ever 2007 Sea Ray Aquapalooza event scheduled for our area on July 21 at Honeycomb which is just a few minutes from Signal Point Marina where we are slipped. Also looking forward to meeting you folks here on the Board. So here’s a big southern “Howdy Yall!†

Welcome Aboard  . Post some pics of your boat in the virtual marina :smt024 . Do the TN river every chance we have. Keep a RV at Hales Bar on Nickajack during the summer. Do you ever get up that way. Plan on being on the river again the weekend after the 4th.

Welcome to the board, great looking boat.

Thanks for the Welcome . . .

Thanks for the welcome! Sorry the pics aren't so good  will get better ones next week. These are some folks gave us, we're too lazy to get off the boat and take our own. Couldn't figure out how to get all four to show up in a line like I saw on some posts. How'd They Do That?

A bunch of us from the marina go up for the Fall Color Cruise Festival. Done that the last 2 years. A group of friends have asked us to cruise up to Chattanooga some weekend but our work schedule won't allow it. Would have to take an extra day or two off so it's not rushed. But who knows, we might just up and do it.

Jamesgang,

Any good places to eat down your way on the river? Was thinking we may do run down next weekend when we are at Hales Bar. The trip up to Chattanooga is has to be one of the best on the river. We always do it. Its about a 2 hour run for us from Hales Bar we will dock downtown and walk over to the Easy Sea Food Company and eat  They have great food and a special cobbler desert that is the best around. Never know what it is going to be it just depends on what is fresh at that time. We've had Peaches, Blue Berry, Strawberry, etc.... What is it they say with the gas it cost to make the run must be about a $75 desert

Chuck

PS Check out my web site under the links for some of the pictures of the run up to Chattanooga.

Sorry it took so long to get back here. There gas and restaurants at Goose Pond Marina and Jackson County Park but no fun winding your way back thru the small channels to get to them. Restaurants in GSV us with a dock are Boondocks near Guntersville Boat Mart and taking a left past Signal Pt. Marina to Top O' the River near Covenant Cove Marina. Can't remember what boat you have but our 290 will not go under the railroad bridge to Covenant Cove. About 20 boats were damaged in a fire there at that marina this week. Haven't heard if they know the cause yet. And if ya just want a hot dog & cold drink, "That Hotdog Place" is on the gas dock at Signal Pt. If you're down this way, we're on A-B Dock #106 in front of the blue building. Just ask for the Georges. We're doing the July 4 parade today hpoing to win some prize money. My brother-in-law is taking his houseboat (River Dawg) out to anchor down and watch the parade. He's got a slide on the back and if we can get a turn in between all the kids who'll be there, we're gonna get WET! HAPPY 4TH TO ALL!

Congrats to Us! :smt038 "Here 4the Party" landed 1st place in our category in the July 4th "All American Celebration" boat parade at Lake Guntersville. Yep, won a few bucks, food certificate, plaque and certificate. Will post this year's pic when I get 'em from folks who took some. Hard to take your own pic from your own boat. Got some of the others tho. Will post some ASAP. Have a good one!

Jamesgang,

Congratulation on 1st place. We just got back from our River Trip. We made it to Goose Pond and yes it is a small, tight channel. Eat at the Docks. We were running late so did not make it any farther down this time. Looking forward to the pictures.

Hey, with your boat you were less than 20 minutes away from Signal Pt. Maybe next time! We stayed at the marina from July 4 til evening of the 8th. Oh well, I see my avatar is gone. I had trouble last night when I tried to upload new photos. Gonna try again tonite. Finally got hold of 2 or 3 good shots to put on Virtual Marina.

Yep maybe next time. I know some Atlanta SeaRayers are going to do a fall cruise down your way and maybe a side trip to Huntsville.

James:

I grew up down the road from you in Decatur, now live in Madison - we boat on Smith Lake.

Lake Guntersville

Welcome!

Hi! Glad to hear from a local. My wife and I work in Decatur and live out off Hwy 67 near Somerville. We started out camping at Smith Lake with our fish-n-ski and all the kids. Rained more often than not every time we went. Used to go to Houston a lot too. Friends invited us to Guntersville and we liked it so much we've just made it our playground for the last 12 years. We're empty nesters now but still love it up there and so do the grandkids. Best bunch of folks at our marina.

Our place is on Rock Creek at Smith - nice clean deep water.

I'm in Decatur all the time as my parents still live there...maybe we'll see you guys around......

Great looking boat!
