After being at Mother Rucker for a couple years myself, I was more taken back by the statue of a “bowl Weevil.” The statue is of a beautiful lady wearing a flowing dress, all the while hoisting a Bowl Weevil above her head in the center of town, only in Enterprise Alabama. They credit that bug for changing their main agricultural crop from cotton to goobers (peanuts). One of the silent Heroes of this country who never got the national recognition he deserved for literally saving the South and its agricultural existence. Dr. George Washington Carver chose service over wealth never received the credit he was due and that is because he didn’t want it. No more humble of a man ever walked this earth and no smarter a man has ever kept his hands in dirt as he.

Felt like saying that, pardon me.

I concur!
Not enough credit while he was alive, and one of the great travesties as he has been relegated to almost a trivia item by our primary education history books. There should be a George Washington Carver Day in every state of the deep south.

I know a bunch of instructors on Rucker but no Eric's. Rucker is a pretty big! I'm not a pilot, I just work with helicopters I oversee the maintenance contract for the air force.
