Well I finally did it - traded in my Sugar Sand Mirage for a new 2007 Sea Ray 175 Sport. Got it out on the water for the first time over the weekend (still too cold to actually get in the lake here without a dry suit - it was still iced over 3 weeks ago!)

I have to admit being a little nervous going from a Jet to an I/O - but we wanted something new that had more power to tow tubes behind. Also "fit and finish" was so much better than some of the other manufacturers we looked at.

And the color was my first choice!

Welcome to the board Mark. I used to have a 176, (Same boat) without the refinements you have. The 3.0 is a just right motor for that boat and will serve you well. I was able to do about 43-44 top end with just me and the wife on smooth water. We pulled my daughter, nieces and nephews on skis, tubes and knee boards with no problem.

Take some time to give the boat a great wax and polish before getting to far into the season and it will help remarkably with the clean ups.

Best regards.

Welcome Aboard  . Post some pic of your boat in the virtual marina :smt024 . Great looking boat

Hi Mark,

Welcome aboard. There are a few of us with 175/176/180's that may be able to help you out if you have any specific questions. Nice looking boat you have there!

One more question, how well does the engine run at that altitude? I used to own an outboard in CO until I moved to Texas.

Is that Chatfield resevoir? I used to live in Aurora. How's the water levels this year?

Completely full - first time in years!

I'm still breaking in the motor (and trying different props) so I can't comment on the motor yet - seems to run fine!

Try to make a trip up to Granby Res. also. That is a beautiful high altitude lake. Late July and Early August is the best time to go. I went back in 1999 and I remember swimming in 62 degree water! It was real clear though. Good for lakers.
