Hello fellow Sea Ray Enthusiasts.

My name is Joe and I have a 2005 Sea Ray 360DA Sundancer. We are on Lake Ontario on the Canadian side.

I have done some electronics upgrading and I am happy to share my experiences with any who might be interested.

The only "major" modification was the addition of a bow thruster. In retrospect, I really didn't need to do it, but it has come in handy a few times.

This is my 3rd Sea Ray and I am very happy with it. I bought it new in 2006. Warranty issues (besides minor cosmetics) include a bad fuel tank sensor, Kohler generator starter motor and a stateroom door that kept coming off its tracks. The dealer has addressed all the issues (although not as timely as I expected).

Here is to a good season!

Welcome to the board and may you enjoy many seasons in your 360.

Welcome Aboard  . Post some pic of your boat in the virtual marina :smt024 .

Hi Joe

Welcoem aboard ...

This Board is a The Bomb! I'm a newbie and it's just what I've been looking for, hope you enjoy it too.

Chad

Sheffield, Welcome from another "great-Laker". Sounds like you have a beautiful 360 w/ all the "toys". You will enjoy the board here and look forward to reading your posts. By the way-those sliding pocket doors are always a P.i.t.a....

YES!!!!

Welcome!

I was the only 360DA owner member here... till now!
We can start a official 360DA thread now

I really know you going to have a nice time here.

Can you show me some pics of your electronics upgrade?
Maybe you got more pics from the interior etc?

Thanks and welcome again.

Peter

Thanks for your message. I am jealous of the Yanmars. We get a fair bit of long period waves (swells) on Lake Ontario so I know that I could use the torque.

Here is a picture of the interior

Your interior has very nice colors

What I also really like to see, are some pics from your dash with the E80 upgrade and your cockpit TV installation...

Yes it's nice to have those diesel engines, very smooth running!

We have big fun on our 360!!

Welcome and glad you found us. I've had Searays for 15 years and still learning new tips and tricks on the site. I hope they upgraded your fuel sending units with the new Ultrasonic sending units. If not give them a little push man they are worth it. Cheers to the 07 season!
Mike

Peter:

I took pics for you:

Hi Joe,
I too am a fellow Canadian. I boat in Georgian Bay.
I looked at your upgrades and must say they are slick.
I need to ask you a few questions.
1) How do you find the wireless unit for your autopilot. Do you use it and if so how and when. I have been on the fence on this purchase for quite awhile. Can't really see myself away from the helm while the boat is in motion.
2) How big is the TV in the cockpit and do you use it much. The location you chose makes the most sense to and again, I was thinking of doing the exact same thing.
Was the installation complicated and did you do it yourself.
I will have a bunch more questions for you I am sure.

Welcome aboard.

Thanks for your kind words Steve,

The upgrades are very easy to do but you need to plan the job and be patient:

1) The wireless autopilot was a gift. I am not sure that I would spend that kind of money otherwise. It works really well and its kind of good to have if you are letting an experienced person at the helm. We boat on Lake Ontario and all of our screens show the same as the helm screen. Therefore, if I am down in the galley for a few minutes, I can still see the radar and map image outside. The reality is though, it's a bit of a toy for power and great for sail boaters.

2) The TV is 19". It is coupled to a Bell Express Vu receiver which is supplied by a Raymarine 45 Satellite Antenna, so we can watch TV anywhere. It is great on rainly weekends or if you can't miss the Sopranos. It isn't great during daylight and sometimes the bugs are attracted to it at night.

I can't take credit for positioning it as that is where the put the screen on the 48. The mount is a Sea Ray part. I used Blue Water Cable Seals on the bar top to avoid leaks.

Hope this answers your questions. If you are ever in the Oakville area let me know and you can come dowm and have a look.

All the Best,

Joe

Joe, thanks for the invitation.
I imagine that the output from the helm screen to all the other screens is done by the E120. I have a Sea Ray Navigator II and are trying to add another one (just to fill the void near the helm).
One question Joe, did you do the work yourself or are you contracting it out.
One last thing, do you have any experiences with inverters?

Hee Joe,

Do you know where the clarion amp's are located in the 360??

I can't find them, aldo I think they are behind the breaker panel...

Thanks Peter

Steve36:

Sorry fior the delay in getting back to you. I have done most of the work myself. I worked with Scanstrut to design the radar/sat mount as they did not make one at the time. The E80 swap was easy as was the bar TV.

I did contract out the installation of the DSS because of the need to run cables. I have a bad knee so kneeling is a pain.

Adding a second display will be a real bonus. I really find the E series very intuitive. Some Neptunus pals have Maptech (Navigator) and E120's mounted together so it should be doable.

Did you buy your boat at Skyline?

I have no experience with invertors as we are on Lake Ontario and most places have 1X50's or 2X30's. We don't do a lot of mooring.

Good luck with your mods!

Joe

Peter:

The Clarion amp is behind the electrical panel on the 360. It is actually behind the lower panel which is the 12v area. Watch out when working behind there as there are a lot of open buses. A misplaced screw driver can make a spark!

Joe

Ok thanks Joe,

I am planning to replace my speakers, and than re-adjust my amps.

Thanks Peter.
