I'm having a lot of trouble understanding current events. How did all of this happen so quickly? I thought voters through electing their congressional representatives made the decisions in this country. How can a demented old man pass executive actions that totally destroy our society? How can we be led from energy independence and closed borders to this in just a few days?? What does the future hold? Looks like voting will no longer determine who makes decisions. What's going on here?
So why are you posting this in the General Discussion section of a "no political threads" boating site? I'm really getting to dislike this site. I'm mostly now doing my boating communications through sharing text messages with my boating friends, except for the Cummins 6CTA and 40 Sedan Bridge forums. I'll probably hang out there still. No one there is whining about their entitlement life being threatened.
OP probably made a mistake...and not exactly a huge one. If it bothers you that much that you would leave the site..report it to the moderators they will move it to the holding tank
Oh, stop whining. He was elected, same as the last guy who also used Executive Orders. "Totally destroy our society"? Aren't you the drama queen! Life will carry on...
Electing makes it alright? Hitler was elected. I would like to see one executive order from Trump that “Totally destroyed our society” just one
Oh, it's Hitler now! You boys love your drama. Trump lost - get over it. The weather's even better. Back to boating.
We have become a country with an electorate that votes against its own self interest on a consistent basis. This is due to a complicated mix of causal elements that began in the 60s when traditional families and those values were diminished by the combination of changing social values, government policies that encouraged single parent homes, changes is public school curricula and population demographics. My generation encouraged and shaped many of these changes which have become engrained in our society. In the 60s, college campuses were hotbeds of dissent. Buildings were burned down and college presidents' offices were occupied and ransacked. After college, many of those students moved into government service jobs and instilled their progressive beliefs over time into their respective agencies as well as their children. The cycle repeated. I'm not sure when younger generations will tire of progressivism. It is becoming institutionalized and more difficult to reverse. Critical thinking skills are taught less frequently today and common sense is not so common. I don't know what it will take before the pendulum begins to swing in the opposite direction. It could be we will see another civil war as we are deeply divided.
MLB just took the All Star game out of Cobb Co, Georgia, and the President fully supported it. Cobb Co. overwhelmingly voted for Biden. I wonder how much revenue they just lost?
I guess according to some, believe the President is supreme ruler. IIRC we fought a war over tyranny .....not sure tho
GA tourism said it will cost the state $100M... Biden was given 4 Pinocchio's for his uninformed comments supporting the MLB...you get what you vote for
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" https://www.nationalreview.com/2013/12/how-nazis-used-gun-control-stephen-p-halbrook/ Sounds like a lot of the stuff now hitting the fan happened back then. Oh, the drama of it all...
THIS IS A GOOD READ AND WELL WORTH YOUR TIME.......YES THOSE WHO CANNOT REMEMBER THE PAST ARE CONDEMNED TO REPEAT IT!!
The smug arrogance of much of society today that believes they cannot fall victim to the evils of the past is incomprehensible. The road we are on is littered with one rights restriction after another...
If we continue down this slippery slope I fear for my kids and grandkids. We will live in a state of anarchy where a small % actually contribute anything and the majority live off the gov't and the gov't will control everything you do or think.
"... a small % actually contribute anything and the majority live off the gov't..." Well that ship sailed quite a while ago. 24 million Americans are directly employed by some level of government, while over 52% of the U.S. population receives some type of government benefit. The 1%ers control all governments through PACs, lobbyists, campaign financing, media and other influence. The governments control you through the millions of federal, state and local laws and regulations. The corporate media has influenced your thinking for decades.
What bothers me is just about a year ago our nation and life in America seemed on a perfect track. Good economic numbers, good employment, energy independence, no threats from any nation, borders were secure and on and on. Now all of a sudden I can't sleep, gas is $1.00 per gallon more and threatens to go much higher, the world my children and grandchildren inherit is so uncertain and I don't have any trust in mainstream news media. It all fell apart within a year!!! Now what? I don't have any trust in my government to solve any issue.
