Wanted to add the sunscreen/sunshade option to my hatch window on my 2011 260da. When I took the current trim surround down to take a look, I noticed the edge and finish work of the hatch did not look that good. I was wondering if there was any type of trim or any ideas to make it look better since it will be seen if I add the sunshade/screen.

I added pictures so you can see what I'm dealing with.

This is best picture I have to show what the current surround looks like. It butts up to the hatch frame so you do not see the ugliness.

First, there's obviously been water intrusion there. Have you addressed that? If not, now is the time to remove and reseal the hatch. Then you can try re-gluing the headliner.

The screen/shade option from Sea Ray was a custom piece made in house, just like the surround that you removed is/was. SR incorporated the shade into the surround for some years... and if memory serves, they installed it on top (the side facing the floor) on the surround. You can probably do something similar on your own.

Good catch and thank you for pointing that out. Hatch has already been resealed and all is good.

Ah okay, so either way the current surround will stay there. The sunshade option just mounts to the surround. Thank you for the heads up about that.

That would be awesome. I would really appreciate that.

I believe on your model 260DA (which is actually closer to the prioer years 240DA), a shade wasn't available as an option - just a pop-in screen. However, if you go look at other models on SR's site, you'll get an idea of what they did. Some years incorporated, some years maybe installed on top, some years installed by itself but with a trim kit. Hard to remember!

That said, the easiest thing for you to do is just install it on top of your current surround.
