I'm in need of a full enclosure on my 1997 33da as I only have the bimini and rear valence. I asked around the marina to a bunch of guys and found it to be an average price of $4,500 to have one made from a canvas shop. After a quick search I eventually ran across an ebay listing for a brand new full canvas kit (minus snaps and tubes) for $2,500. I called the place Harvard Marine and the gentleman on the phone couldn't be any more helpful and explained that there are actually 3 variants of canvas for my boat depending on which plant it was assembled. I gave him my HIN and he happily told me that mine was produced in TN and that the canvas would actually be $2,500 and it will fit no problem.

In my opinion I will be more than happy to install snaps to save $2,000 but my concern is the quality of materials. He did say that they use sunbrella which to the best of my knowledge is a quality material. However I'm curious as to what they are stitching it with.

If anyone has gone through these guys please post opinions good or bad.

Thank you!

I have. I replace the entire canvas set from them (same boat as you). They sell the exact OEM set that Great Lakes Boat Tops sells (Great Lakes made the original Sea Ray when you boat was built). So you can buy from Harvard, or contact Great Lakes themselves. They probably will sell at the same price. the canvas fits perfectly and looks great. Its the OEM canvas and glass. I am going to have a local canvas guy make me screens for the side panels though for those hot summer nights. The OEM is all sealed with no screens.

I bought the snap tool from Harvard Marine and did the snaps myself. It was a royal pain in the a$$ and I would not do it again. Just as I was finished, the marina canvas guy walked by and said he could of installed the snaps for me using the proper tool. (it would have been very reasonable, done right, and far easier -- next time!)

Thank you for the information!. I figured that they are legit after I spoke with the guy on the phone. Right after I wrote this thread I found one on ebay "used" in kind of rough shape... I got it for $350.00 it will definitely need a new side curtain isinglass but as long as the canvas and zippers ect aren't too far gone I will buy it.... for $350.00 if I get a season or 2 out of it I'm happy.
