Hi. Have been a follower of this forum for many years; first time asking a question. I was trying to install a new led navigation light to a 2008 sea ray 330 when I snapped one of the wires coming from the hull of the boat to supply electricity to the light. When I went to look at the wiring inside the boat /hull I noticed the attached device which seems to be a connector of some sort. Any idea what this is or if it’s necessary to use going forward? Piece has a model number of P.E.D.17. I just assumed there would be red and black wires to connect to the Nav light but there were two black ones (one of which I snapped) that were coming from this connector . Including a wiring schematic from sea ray if this helps. Hope I’m making some sense.

You don’t need the connector, you can use some bullet connectors or a marine butt splice. The other side of the connector should have a gray and black wire per your wiring diagram.

With the new LED lights make sure you have the polarity correct before you button everything back up. If you get the wires backwards the light won’t work. It doesn’t hurt anything if you power it up backwards.

Ok...thanks a lot for the reply. This makes a lot of sense based on everything I’ve been reading. Will give it a whirl by week’s end and let you know where I landed. Thanks again for the quick reply.

No problem. I did the same retrofit on mine last season, the led’s had 2 black wires so I twisted the wires together first to make sure they worked before installing the bullet connectors
