Does anyone have any experience with replacing the bimini top on an aft cabin with a hardtop? My concerns (in addition to cost) are the added weight and it might look dumb. My goal would be to not have to deal with the canvas top ever again - current one is shot. It would be great to get some pictures if anyone has done this.

Ease of exit and entry might might be incurred. You'd have to add doors or hatches to get to the cleats. It would also eliminate the breeze and could be a little warm if you use too much glass. It would be like an oven in the summertime.

Sundancer, I added a picture of the boat. The hardtop would still have removable skirts/panels all around. Access would be the same. Thanks for the concern.

Hi Jack
I have a 1989 Sea Ray 410 with a hard top made of lightweight poly-carbonate and aluminum. It is very lightweight and much cooler than canvas and guaranteed for ten years. if you are interested you can go to hardtotop.com you will see my boat listed.
