How many people use their boats for hanging out at sandbars....One of my favorite past times...or how do you use your boat typically.

I love a good sand bar.
Or beach bar.
Or marina.
Or quiet cove.
Or bustling harbor.
You get the idea...

Usually go for a little ride around the lake than anchor in a quiet Cove some where, cook on the grill, swim. Than its off for another ride maybe to get ice cream.
We got a baby this year so we may try some sandbars that way we can stand up while baby is in the water.

Im curious if anyone does any fishing from their Sea Rays...Im not really a fishing guy, I try but tend to catch more sun than fish

We head to a favorite cove about 20 miles away which starts things off with a nice boat ride. Set the hook, tie up 3 or 4 other boats, then eat, drink and be merry. if we want to go ashore or cruise around, we hop on the jet ski or RIB. Sometimes I'll pull the hook, load up everybody and we'll just cruise in the big boat. When Sunday afternoon comes around, we untie and head back in. We try as much as possible to be out on the hook Friday evening...makes the weekend feel longer. We are not dock rats. We try to do 2-3 reasonably long trips per season too.

We head out every Friday evening or Saturday morning and stay out until Sunday night. Destinations vary from anchored in a cove, backed up to a sandbar, tied to a mooring ball, or at a remote marina, but we run. Last season we put about 150 hours on the engines. Like searay40dad said, we are not dock rats.

We have a local sandbar we go to every weekend along with 100+ other boats. We anchor for awhile then head to the YC so my little gilr can swim in what she calls the blue pool comared to the green pool (which is the sandbar).

We hang on the sandbar at Greenwood Lake, NY for a few hours every time we go out. Stand in 3-4' of water drinking beer while warming said water. Usually raft up with several friends and throw the bull.........

We usually just find a place by ourselves to drop the hook, but when we hear of a raft-up we head there and drop the hook. Since we're a different size than most of the boats in the raft up we usually anchor off a short distance away and dinghy over to the party.

We are at the sandbar every Sunday (along with 200+ other boats). It's is our Sunday tradition and have met some great friends there. There's a couple but it's usually Peanut Island. Peanut island is a 6min boat ride from my house; if you're not familiar with it, google/YouTube it and enjoy the scenery. :)

Come on, Woody. There's 6000 YouTube videos on peanut island and you go and pick the sketchy ones! Lol. Most of the time, it's a great time.

We're buying a place in Jupiter and plan to become regulars at Peanut Island - we've always enjoyed it there. I'll have to look you up when we get settled in down there. I hear there's a few decent sandbars up around the Jupiter Inlet area too?

Absolutely, give me a shout. Permanent relocation or vacation home in Jupiter? Yes, jupiter has some great places to spend the day near the inlet. We spent nearly every weekend last summer in Jupiter and were up there 2 weeks ago as well. One of our favorite spots. That's where we go when we want a little quieter and more laid back afternoon.

Not too many sandbars her in Northern Cal and the Delta. But there are a number of good coves to anchor in and lots of marinas to hop to. Peanut Island does not look like my idea of fun.

I will have to agree that Peanut Island is for the young and stupid. Horrible place to spend a weekend. You continuously worry about your boat getting hit and you getting shot. It is one the worst areas around the boating community for violence. I would not recommend taking any children there. Palm Beach county is trying to clean it up and eventually I think they will and they have made it a little better but still not a great hang out for any type of relaxing atmosphere.

There are many Sea Rays that fish. I have posted this pic several times:

We convert to a fishing machine many times a year. She converts rather easily back and forth from cruising to fishing.

I got an idea after watching blood staining the water in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIISbgHp29g Maybe every attendee should have to take a pill that would color urine so they see what they're splashing around in all day. Kind of a turnoff when you realize that hot chick you've sidled up to is peeing on you.:smt043
