Your out on the water and you get hit by this. How do you think your boat will hold up? What should the Captain do?

This is why you keep a weather eye out for stuff like this. You don't put yourself in the position. If you are out on the water, you just put the transmission in neutral and go below until it blows over. If you have canvas, that will be shredded and the weight of the hail is lethal. I lost a convertible top and windshield in a sports car many years ago and the car was totaled due to the denting. I was able to get the car to a garage without getting hurt. Cattle in farmers' fields died from the brick sized hail hitting them. Most homeowners ended up with new roofs on their houses. that was Iowa City around 1968.
