So last week while on Vacation MM had to come to the boat 3 times to replace H20 PSI and PITOT sensors that kept going bad. Friday I dropped the boat off with them so they could have it for the week to work with Mercury to figure out the issue and it seems they have and sounds like this is gonna be another one of those problems everyone is going to start have happening.

So I'm just passing along what Mercury and MM have done to correct the issues.

speedometer/water psi sensor - we tested ones from your engine on another engine and it did not operate - sensor diffidently is faulty - same with the water pressure sensor. We checked all harness and ground connections, checked ohm and continuity readings, all was with in factory spec. I was able to speak with a Mercury electrical engineer about this issue and he was able to provide some information on adding additional grounding to the sensors - a static charge can build up and internally short the sensor, they operate off a 5 volt ground circuit and can internally short. Mercury provided an instruction sheet that Tony followed - he than water tested your vessel for almost an hour - all gauge systems were operating as designed.

Monday we had another customer report the same failure as you on another 240SD - We are going to his vessel today to replace speedo and water PSI sensors and install additional ground straps.

So maybe this will help someone else having problems with these sensors.

Damn... tell them you want the money for the gas they burned
