Great News! CDC Says Covid On Verge Of Non-epdimic Status!

This is truly unbelievable, but there it is, in writing from the local news source.

The cases with COVID-19 listed as the primary cause of death had an average of 4.6 contributory factors, and none had fewer than 3 contributory factors.

Then to top it off a roofer struck by lightning that fell from the roof was called a Covid death.

The entire article was well worth the read.

We have given the medical community a perverse financial incentive to find Covid deaths.
Medical Examiner's Office explains discrepancies in COVID-19 death tallies
"But according to the medical examiner's office, the list given out for public records request is not the official tally."

They have not been wearing masks, the whole mask debate is a brand new thing that just happened starting in about June. It also seems that your conflating essential workers with healthcare workers. Essential workers were those people who didn’t hide in their house and we’re out working every day, like me and Blue among others.

A quick trip to the local home-improvement center would show in May that few people were wearing masks.

This is the disconnect in my opinion, people who get out and work every day and look around what’s going on in their communities see very few people that are sick and even fewer that are dying they occasionally hear about one or two through the grapevine.

There is another group that sits in their homes in self-imposed quarantine and they watch CNN and MSNBC and think the sky is falling. It is fascinating to me that the fear factor literally corresponds with the amount of time spent watching TV news.

It is very liberating to break the habit of watching TV news from any source, cut way back on the panic porn on social media and Internet media and look at the real world.
At least here on CSR, the mask debate wrt covid started back in January. See http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/the-virus-what-are-your-thoughts.96356/page-2.
Interestingly, at that time, El Capitan was very much a panic porn artist. He told us "Be Afraid. Very Afraid." But, he wasn't much into masks, he recommended everybody wear gloves.

"Essential Worker" is defined by the terms of a state or local order that creates community restrictions in support of public health. There are federal guidelines which most localities adopt but some create their own or add/subtract from the federal list. To my knowledge, healthcare, police and fire, transit, power and grocery workers are on every list. Defense Industrial Base is also on every list and I fit in under that. I believe Blueone stated he was in that category as well. It is not defined by how much you go out, although most essential workers necessarily go out a lot to get to work (the only purpose of the exemption). You can't self-select for essential worker if that's what you were saying (wasn't clear so apologies if I got it wrong).

I have been out and about in support of my work continuously since the President locked down, mostly to military installations and federal buildings. I wouldn't expect to meet any covid cases since DoD has, along with the rest of government, taken this absolutely seriously. Rather than from the news, I get most of my knowledge either from what I research myself or from the government information that flows my way as part of my work.

Mask guidance came out in early April, about two weeks into the lockdown. DoD instantly adopted it so I have seen 100% compliance on bases since then. The states in the northeast came along pretty quickly with mask mandates as well. It did take a couple of weeks or more to take hold in the community but it is now very rare to see someone without a mask in those places where they are mandated. As I said earlier, essential workers as a group were among the first to have to wear masks, now studies show they are getting infections and dying at lower rates than the general population.

So they lied to the public on freedom of information request? But we are supposed to believe them now?
Depends on what the request was for, not enough information in either article to determine that. As a general rule, a FOIA response will only provide exactly what was asked for, nothing more or less.

It must’ve been different in your area. Indiana did not adopt mandatory masking until late July. Essential workers were also defined as grocery store employees drug store employees, even real estate agents were defined as essential.

Yikes!!!! ....I hate when I die at lower rates :)

We have been open and working the entire time.... Thankful to say not a single problem with anyone or anyone we know from suppliers to customers and we are committed to keep it that way.... We are not special by any means which has been puzzling.... Why couldnt other businesses have done the same thing?

Good video and quite factual although intellectually dishonest in my opinion. I think the problem with both left and right media exemplified in this video is a failure to recognize and articulate the concept of opportunity cost. Opportunity costs are what happen if one path or the the other (or one of several) is taken. So, the point of this video is whether the cost of the lockdowns was worth it based on the deaths experienced to date (except in New York and New Jersey). The better question is whether the deaths expected with no or different actions would have been worth it. Although he hasn't put in those terms, President Trump has articulated an opportunity cost of 3.3 million deaths (probably overstated) if nothing had been done. Whether or not that was a good idea or an accurate estimate is actually the better debate. I suppose the concept may be considered too difficult to explain to the public, although it's used in government and business all the time. It's theoretical since the ultimate opportunity cost will never be known unless nothing in fact is done. Opportunity cost is also relevant to the cost of lockdown, for example, what might be the cost in lives for those displaced economically due to lockdown. One side ignores it and the other probably overstates it.

The CDC issued the recommendation that masks be worn nationwide on April 3. Lots of governments and commercial establishments across the nation gradually began to adopt masks at that time. Agree some governments didn't mandate masks until recently and I don't think all have as yet. It appears we are seeing the results of those mandates or even just recommendations as cases begin to abate, let's hope it continues.

You can’t make this crap up.

KDHE Secretary Lee Norman shared a COVID case chart with media this week, which he said shows the counties that abided by Governor Kelly’s mask mandate are ‘winning the battle.’ But he deceptively doctored the chart to justify mask mandates.
