Any one out there in CA have any knowledge of a business in Newport Beach called Coast Marine?
Back in Aug-Sept I won an e-bay auction for a new in the box Norcold DE0041 Refrigerator for my 350 EB
Long story short money was transferred, lots of excuses from Tom Dessel at Coast Marine, but no refrigerator.
I have been trying to make contact almost daily but have not heard back since last e-mail dated 11/2706 telling me the unit was still backordered.
All I get when I try to call is his answering machine.
I really think he has caller ID and sees area code.
If anyone has any info on company I would appreciated some feedback.
Just don't want to get screwed out of $853.00
And need the Norcold to keep the beverages cool!

Thanks for the quick response.
Should have thought to check the BBB also
Even though he has a great rating on e-bay
Next will be to file complaint with BBB
Also have a few free flights on Southwest Air Lines
May need some warm weather and a vist!

This has been done now all I can do keep my fingers crossed for the time being.

Did you use Paypal? If so many items are covered under their Buyers Protection Plan and you can file with them along with Ebay. Also, if you paid by credit card you should be able to handle the issue through them and get a refund. Hope it works out for you...

I filed a e-bay dispute..........but
Took the guy's word on the fridge being shipped and withdrew it.
New to e-bay back then.
Too late to refile.
Now know better.
Everything else I have since bought for the boat has worked out great. GPS/Chart Plotter, Auto Trim Control, etc.
Working with Credit Card Company right now, but may be too late.

Just a short update.
Filed a BBB Complaint on 1/26/07
Thanks Greg - Aquia185 for the suggestion!
And so far the scum bag has yet to respond to the BBB
Call and leave a message daily, again no response.
Next I think I will try and contact the county court system to see if I can file in Small Claims Court.
Have had good luck here in IL that way.
Todd, Yeah it might be worth using my Southwest Rapid Rewards to visit.

Sorry to hear it still hasn't been resolved. One other thing you could possibly try. Talk to your local police and also his local police...fraud squad. Tell them your story and see if they might be willing to help, especially his local law enforcement. I am sure if a faud office stopped by his business and told him someone was inquiring about filing a fraud charge against him it might rattle him enough to either fill your order or give you a refund. You might get lucky... Keep us in the loop mate. Good luck.

I will have to do some research on the area and get some specifices on the locals.
Not real familiar with Newport Beach area.
Will work on it over the weekend between boat work.

No nothing has gotten resolved.
BBB did try and contact him but he did not respond and after 30 days they sent me a letter saying because of this they were closing the complaint.
This past week I contacted the CA State's Attorneys Office and filed a complaint and also filed a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center, ICCC, which investigates Internet Fraud in cases like this. They also work with the FBI when monies cross state lines.
So... we shall see what happens now.
Maybe a little more pressure will resolve this.
Gonna need that fridge for the beers this summer as I only have about 30 days till splash.

Sorry about the size of my picture, but something happened yesterday when I was changing things.
 
Dan... this guy Tom Dessel is either a deadbeat or maybe he actaully died.

I have been calling weekly and never get past the VM. I talked to him Nov 1st and sent my windlass for repair. Not a word since. I am out $300. I live 80 miles from him. Tempted to go retrieve it.

One approach is try to find nieghbors in the business park he was /is located in ..and see if they know if he split town. Allof our merchandize may be locked up and sold by the landlord .. who knows.

Call if you get any clues. i wont be returning to this forum.
