These photos are from Lake St. Clair, taken on 7/31/08.

the small muskie is 42". The other measured 49.5", and was caught by me! This was by far the biggest fish I've ever caught. My dad has a 48" mounted at home that he caught 20 years ago, and he caught the 42" in the photo.

Many thanks go to my friend Tim, who put us on the fish.

I don't know who had more fun. The two of us that caught fish, or Tim, who orchestrated the hole thing.

What an awesome day!

Nice looking fish! How was the fight for these? I'm thinking Muskie are a lot like Northern Pike around here. They usually put up a good run on the line, but feel like you're pulling in a huge log, once they tire.

Yes, pretty similar to what you describe.

the initial hit was a BIG run. had to let her tire out for a bit. start bringing her in, then wham, starts a smaller run (dang it, my forearm is cramping). start bringing her in again (dang, flys are now biting!!!!). Keep focused!!!

Felt like I had the bottom of the lake at times. of course, trolling at 4 mph does not help matters.

Thanks for the props!

Gregg

btw,

if this is posted in the incorrect forum, please let me know, and I'll move it!

Scott,

Thanks!

Yes, the zebra mussels have helped quite a bit. You can see bottom in 9 feet of water. absolutely wonderful.
