The lakes survived the pollution of the of the 70's .Now the new treat which is already known is chemical and animal fertilizer run off. The same chemicals that are used to grow our food and make our grass greener is causing record algae blooms in our lakes. The up hill battle to prevent fertilizer run off can not come to soon it will not be easy but everyone knows its for the best.Thankfully this season had fewer hard rains in the region which helped prevent large run offs and reduce the algae .So this s why my lawn looks like it does weeds are green and more drought tolerant and I like the yellow flowers the grow in my yard unlike my neighbors yard that has none.

I was surprised by how well the western basin looked this summer. With the warm winter, I was bracing for the worst. A friend of mine works on the E side of Cleveland, and he said he saw significant algae over there for the first time this year. I haven't heard of an explanation for that.

..in turn, we could use that algae to create biofuels........IT's FUEL ALCHEMY!
