It was stunnigly beautiful today. 65F and a light breeze. Bright sunshine and the leaves are just turning on the lake.
So I made up a widget on Photobucket to share the day with you ... and make those guys in the North a little envious.

Also some pics from our marina and where Hau'Oli rests. Looks pretty small next to that 380AC and 39EC ...

Hope you enjoy!

Looks like the link is not working :smt017

Not sure what is going on but when you click on the link it says image has been moved or deleted. You can click on the photo album link at the top to see the pictures. Looks great.

This link will work. http://s96.photobucket.com/albums/l178/AlexD_MyAlbums/SML 101506/

Great pictures Alex. Smith Mountain Lake is just gorgeous. We almost bought a waterfront lot to build a house at The Boardwalk back in 1996. We really fell in love with Smith Mountain Lake but due to some unforseen family issues we had to change our plans. As I recall the mountain views by the dam are just spectacular.

Looks like a nice day and an interesting marina, but let's see more of that lake.....

Sorry ... the link above is supposed to go to the folder with all the lake pictures and not the marina ... :smt017

Yes, it does.

That was my boat before three weeks of reconditioning and cleaning. We first compounded and then waxed every square inch of her. She was in great mechanical condition when I bought her, but neglected from an optical perspective. Grimey on the inside and the gelcoat oxidized. Surface scratches on the transom and starboard deck sides from careless docking or such. Cockpit was dirty and all canvas zippers were broken even though the canvas was still good. I spend a couple thousand dollars on reconditioning and service and now she's like brand new! But I got a really great deal on her which will help not losing any money on her in depreciation for the next two seasons. I also changed the name ...

Much better. Looks like an interesting lake. I like the picture of the sign you took where it says it drops off quickly to 25 feet. There are some places I visit in Canada where it's 25 feet at the rock wall then drop off to over 1000. Is the lake big enough to have some good size jaunts with destinations or other marinas, parks to visit?

Man made lakes like these can be as treacherous as the West coast in Washington state. Many hidden shoals .... you got to know the lake or you're eventually get in trouble! This lake is very deep in most parts.
We have 13+ marinas on the lake. Lots and lots of restaurants too. It has over 500 miles of shoreline and is approx 20,000 acres large (32 square miles). Good for boating. The best is the state park and many, many other undeveloped areas where you can hide out in a cove for a day or a week if you'd like.
From the top to the dam the lake is approx. 40 miles long on the water. We travel 10 miles one way to our favorite cove.

Check more detail out here if you'd like.

There is all the info you may want including lake map here.

Thanks for the link to the lake. Looks like another one I'm going to add to my list. So much water, so little time. :smt001
