For Christmas, my mother-in-law gave me a Blackstone 17” griddle. It is one of the best items we have ever had for the dock. I bought a 4’x2’ folding table to set it on. Both pieces fit in our dock box. It uses the 1lb propane bottles and is wonderful! I can cook a whole pound of bacon at one time, 6-8 eggs, and pancakes take 10 mins to cook 15. I have used it to make philly-steak sandwiches and we have a big breakfast at least one weekend morning. One of the best advantages is we do not smell up the boat and can cook a large amount at one time. The griddle itself is cast iron and once seasoned, clean up is just wipe and go....

Looks nice, unfortunately we are not allowed to use anything with flame on our dock so we must stick with electric. Must make for some good cooking.

...maybe she figures the more time he spends at the dock cooking the less time she sees him :)

Sorry guys, but I'm laying claim to the best Mother-in-Law out there. Here's a photo of her at her 100th birthday party. We all celebrated her 103rd birthday in December and she's going strong. She lives by herself in a retirement center, takes good care of all her finances and is sharp as a tack. Her best attribute: She minds her own business.

We love to have her around and have her over for dinner about once a week. She's a sweetheart.

That is amazing... What a life to have lived 103 years and going strong.... I can't imagine what she has seen and done... All the power to her to keep going
My new son-in-law has grandparents that are Both 92... Just the greatest people... A couple of months ago I had grandpa at the dinner table for 3 hours just talking about his experiences from world wars to fishing holes.... I could have listened for 3 more hours...

Never have been where a flame can be used over a wood dock.

Not that I care, but wonder if the insurance carrier knows? That is the base reason most often cited by marinas.

The harbor master was moored next to me... So who knows... It was awesome while I was there though.

It's not allowed by us either. I'm told what ruined things wasn't flame but the short legged portable charcoal grills being too hot on the bottom.

She's an amazing woman and it's interesting to listen to her stories. Born in 1915 in the thriving metropolis of Ingomar, MT she's seen the US involvement in almost 50 wars between 1900-present. I didn't believe it either, so here's a link to my source in Wikipedia.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_involving_the_United_States#19th-century_wars

I get the biggest kick out of listening to her stories about life in MT then their move to WA. Her husband and his twin brother ran an appliance store in the town of Cle Elum, WA. They were the first cable TV providers in Central WA. In the early 60's they wanted to run cable to the south side of the river that divided the town. To do that, they tied the cable to their German Shepherd's collar and held him on the north side of the river. My wife's brother went to the south side and called the dog and the dog swam across the river to bring cable to the other side.

I guess it's true that necessity is the mother of invention.

My mother-in-law is a great lady! She is good to us and keeps to herself for the most part.

I am not sure of the rules as far as “fire on the dock.” We are very careful. There are no charcoal fires, but we do use some gas heaters and of course the griddle. I have a 2nd dock box. Never asked, just put it in and never thought twice about it. A neighbor asked about getting another one and was told no, one was the limit. No one has ever said anything...

Nonetheless, it is a great utensil.
